My family and I had this discussion after the bowl game, when we got into a debate about who our team MVP was, which turned into a debate over who belonged in the Top 10 for this year. So I decided to get your guys' thoughts! My top 10, in no order, was

Cobb
Maxx
Leidner
Thompson
Wilson
Boddy-Calhoun
Botticelli
Epping
Olson
Mortell

Liedner is going to get some responses.

Eric Murray has to be on any list. Dude was put on an island all year and did fantastic. I'm very excited to have him back next year.

I would make 2 changes: Murray over Thompson, and probably Richardson over Botticelli. Steve was that good as a freshman.

Agreed on Richardson...so excited for his future.

OP list was very good. Glad you have Mortell on there...there were games where he was one of our MVPs. Love him.

Go Gophers!!

1. David Cobb
2. Maxx Williams
3. Briean Boddy-Calhoun
4. Damien Wilson
5. Eric Murray
6. Cedric Thompson
7. Steven Richardson
8. Cameron Botticelli
9. Zac Epping
10. Peter Mortell

Leidner had some games where he would be in the top 10 list (probably 2 or 3 where he was top 3), but he wasn't one of the 10 best players on this squad throughout the entire year. I'm not going to stick him in there simply because he was our starting QB.

I would agree with afurry's list. Better represents the season long quality of play.

MIGHT come back, things have gotten very interesting. No big deal to lose a guy whose not a top 10 player. (Jan.15th is the deadline)

I agree with this. If I look at Leidner's body of work over the year, I certainly can't say "that was solid quarterback play, I'd be happy if we could get that kind of performance out of our QB every year." There are at least ten Gophers you can say that about for their respective positions, and I think your list was a pretty good one. Cobb, Dos Equis, BBC, and Murray were the four that immediately came to mind for me.
