per Powers:

"We should be fine," Tubby said, looking ahead to next year. "We have a couple of good recruits coming in. We lose a lot of rebounding, a lot of athleticism in Rodney Williams and Trevor (Mbakwe). But I think we should be OK."

"OK" means about 20 victories, which usually is enough to get the Gophers serious tournament consideration. He's been remarkably consistent since taking over a comatose program. I'll say it again: There is no next level at Minnesota. This is the last level. This is about as smoothly as it will hum along. A few more Big Ten victories would be appreciated. But getting to the NCAA tournament is the prize. Once there, it's always possible to catch lightning in a bottle.

Go Gophers!!

Sounds like a lazy reporter making a lazy conclusion. I'd say there's no next level for the Pioneer Press. As for the U, I think there's a lot of untapped potential there, and I'll always believe that.

Powers is challenging Souhan and Sensevere for the the most worthless local columnist. Rip Reusse all you want, but like Jerry Kill, he's not competing with Lombardi here.

The Pioneer Press is still in business? Huh. Who knew?
