Coach Kill has yet to appear on today's Sports huddle; reason unknown.

I'll continue to listen; however, if coach Kill isn't on shortly, a family commitment after 11 o'clock could impact this week's summary.

Go Gophers!!

Of course, Coach Kill comes on after 11:00. Apparently, he is on the road visiting his daughters and they could not get in touch with him until later than usual. He did stay on until 11:25. I did not take notes but will dump what I remember.

They started off talking about recruiting. It sounds like while the staff is always ready to talk to recruits but not a lot is going on right now. Kill said it was looking like they will have 17 scholarships available. He talked several times about rewarding existing walk-ons. Sounds like Christenson now has a scholarship.

They asked about injuries and it sounds like Mottla is out. Kill said Westerhaus is making progress but may not be ready for the start of camp. It sounds like they hope to have everyone else ready.

They talked about the new class coming in. Sounds like they are very athletic but need to work on strength. Talked about Donovahn Jones a couple times. Apparently, he has a 40" vertical and the other players were exited because during a pick-up basketball game, he hit his head on the rim (he's listed at 6'-3").

They talked about the kicking game. Apparently, many (most?) of the kickers have finished up summer school and are woking with their own kicking coaches off campus during July. Kill said that is the first time they have done this.

Talked about tight ends and how happy the staff is with where they are. They feel they have a lot of flexibility and have a number of guys they can split wide to cause mismatches. Noted that Plsek is up to 275. Also, talked about players possibly moving (in the general sense) to other positions. "Always want the best players on the field". Jones came up again during that discussion. Mentioned Henry being on scholarship.

Talked about walk-ons and how Nebraska built their program using walk-ons. Said kids that work hard and play will be in line for scholarships before new kids will be recruited for those positions.

Appreciate the brain dump hg. Sounds like more talk than normal about rewarding walk-ons with scholarships. I wonder if this is due in part to a lot of our targets committing elsewhere recently.

I will post the podcast when it is available. Sound like Kill was positive about where they are at.

Thought he mentioned Jon Christenson, but maybe Henry as well.

Except these would be 2013 scholarships, not 2014.

That's interesting, I was starting to think that his football career may be over.

Sid also asked about visitors saying some of the sites (GI, GH) were reporting visits. Kill said their have been some unofficial visits, prior to the 4th, primarily from local/area kids. Did say some came from further away. Sounded like he was going to give a specific example but ended up not finishing that train of thought.

There was also a question about Edwards running track. Kill said he would be o.k. with it if Edwards gets his school work done. Kill also made a comment about Kirkwood noting how much of a burst of speed Edwards has.

Thanks fer pitchin in, Harry - and the rest of you.
