What game did you watch last night?

It was one game. Does one game make a year? I don't think so. Just like I won't be saying sweet 16 if we win on Sunday. Some people on here watch every game like it is the last one. So, when Duke got smoked by St. Johns, should their fans have packed it in?

You'd think fans who pay attention to Big 10 basketball could have a little prespective and not freak out every time a team loses to an inferior opponent on the road. It happens about 4 times a week.

I could list a bunch of teams. It's not the end of the season is all I'm saying. And, if you guys think it is, than why do you still watch or even care? As selection sunday showed, this team is not on the bubble right now, they are "in". Of course, there are still 8 games left to be played. I don't know, I just think it's funny how many people jump on and off this team depending on every single game. It makes me laugh.

Correct. Look, we played poorly last night. There's no doubt. We lost to an inferior team, who were down two of their best players, and we looked like we were lacking energy and confidence. But we looked bad against Virginia too, and we rallied a bit. I'm confident Tubby can make some adjustments.

And really, the main reason I made this post is because that picture is awesome. I think the student section should stop with tubby shirts every year, and get this put on them!

How many times do you say "it's just one game" before it becomes more than "just one game"? Not sure how criticizing play equates to me "jumping off the team." The way we've played the last two games, we are a bubble team right now.

Did you really expect to win at Purdue? We may be 5-5 but 4 of the losses were completely expected and the 5th was on the road. We have yet to lose a game that causes genuine concern, outside of UVa.

And Indiana, where we played awful. Lots of unforced turnovers. This team cannot make free throws. I just don't see us winning enough games the rest of the way to get us off the bubble. Do we make it into the tourney? I think so, since we're part of the Big Ten.

HEy...this team needs to freak out a little bit and play with a sense of urgency. I have not seen any sustained intensity since Michigan. The margin for error is slim, we are lacking quite a few part on this team and without that intensity, this team will continue to struggle both at home and on the road. Projecting out---We are a bubble team...face it! And Play like a team fighting for their lives.

They basically handled NU at home, that was a pretty sustained, consistent effort. A hot streak by them at the end of the half doesn't change that game was pretty much in control for most of it. They played hard at Purdue, they just couldn't get it done. Last night, however, was inexcusable. But it's one game. How you respond is far more important than the game itself. They can make this loss just a blip in the road, or they can turn it into a snowball that ruins the year. We'll see what happens.

As far as being a bubble team, they're really nowhere near that........yet. If (and obviously if they play like last night this will NOT happen) they win their home games (sans OSU), and steal just one on the road, they're comfortably in the tourney with 21 wins and some of the quality wins they have. I think they have a decent shot at pulling in a 5-3 finish with 5 home games and 3 roadies left.

Monty- purely on current record - we are in. Unfortunately we built the current record with a different team. Add Nolen, Joseph and Walker and we are just a much, much better team- a high seed. Without them we are a bubble team. Considering that we lost last night to Indiana- a team playing with virtually no Big Ten talent- the current team, the one we really really have right now is probably a 50-50 bet to get into the tournament. There are no guaranteed wins anymore. We play everyone close and we are terrible at the free throw line- a real bad formula. I'm the biggest homer in the world and this team just isn't that good anymore. Easiest team in the Big Ten to play defense against.

Sad to say,but you are correct.

ulmer

After that effort and coming home to #1 I look for the best game being played on Sun. I`m starting Hollins.

No, I agree with you, we're at best a bubble quality team right now with this outfit. But the thing is, the selection folks aren't gonna just ignore the first half of the year, those wins will still count. We can play like a bubble team at this juncture and still probably be safely in, that's all I'm saying. If we play worse than a bubble team then yeah, we'll fall into the bubble talk. And if we play like we did last night, then all of this is moot cause we'll end up in the NIT anyway.

Silly to say Indiana has virtually no Big Ten talent. If that's the case, about half of our roster also is in that category. But the rest of your post is spot on. We are the easiest team to defend: no point guard, very little outside threat, limited ability to create off the dribble, inconsistent play from the big men. I still think we'll muddle through and get in, but it's not a given that we're going to like some people think.

I don't remember who said this, but I agree. The line-up should be Blake, Chip, Hollins, Rodney and Trevor. That would be a fun group and adds a shooter in Hollins and allows Sampson and Iverson to come in fresh to bang on the other teams.

Right now I don't think it is a bubble team. If Hollins can continue to improve I think it will be but without that they are NIT bound.

Apparently all the national guys are just Minnesota homers!

IMPROVE to a bubble team?

Right now the Gophers are solidly IN the NCAA field.

I agree, if the seeds were being announced today. Unfortunately the current status is based on games we played with Mo, Al, and/or Devoe dressed and ready to go.

The current squad is obviously not the same without them. The Gopher performance at Indiana in the first half was awful. Was that an aberation or is it what we now have?

If that type of performance is not seen again I believe, yes, we are a lock and will get a good seed. If that first half performance becomes the norm we will drop like a rock. IMHO.

I love the team. I love Tubby. I love the Barn and I love the U. I am hoping for the best and continue to pull for our lads, on and off the court.

That all being said I am not convinced we are a "lock".

Tomorrow is a terrific opportunity and I hope the lads are ready to go!

Go Gophers!!

22 or 23 W on March 13th is a lock.

20 or 21 W that day is on the bubble.

Based on schedule and performance they are right on the bubble, Michigan State game is important. I doubt they beat Ohio State at home. Illinois away is probably going to be a loss. Penn State away is another important game. There isn't alot of room for error, they aren't playing very well, and have no experience in the backcourt. If this isn't a bubble team I don't know what is.
