Game thoughts
Weber was not good, Gray is probably worse, coaches would play best player regardless of seniority, loyalty, etc, Gray must be struggling in practice or he would have gotten mixed in by now.

Oline terrible, all of them not just wills, bunders, etc
look for 3-5 new starters next year again, a lack of chemistry will carry our Oline problems for at least 2 more seasons unless some guys really step it up

Jacobs got worked, the play they ran about 20 times in the second half was right at him, he was washed down every time, also a lack of pass rush, which we knew going in, Mckinley should have been ashamed after that game for whatever transgression he had, he let his team down.

Execution is still killing us, it's not coaching, it's executing the plays/formations/coverages, plays were there to be had

Overall THE most important thing going forward, and should be considered when criticizing the coaches and players, is how they handle the coming week. Do they struggle? do they fade like last year? or do they come out angry and ready to rock? Do they dominate purdue physically?
I think maybe a simplification of the offense might be in order, get a bread and butter 3-5 plays and add in the trim little by little.

The offense is not exactly complex - seems pretty simple...it would work if:
(1) Stupid penalties did not either back us up all the time or whack long plays,
(2) The offensive line would start playing with some authority, and
(3) Adam Weber would start playing like a 3rd-year starter (and whatever limits the coaches put on him, if any, need to be taken off NOW).

really? Any thoughts on how the offense is simple other than "Well, if Weber and the Oline would just play better it would work?"

There are many college football offenses that are simple, mind numbingly simple.
So far we aren't one of them, we have multiple formations, motions and shifts, we script plays and have special packages for each game, in every game there have been 3-7 new plays, I'll bet this playbook is huge. We need to know what we can do on every down with consistency, right now the closest thing is a red zone pass to Decker, we know we can throw that and 75-95% of the time we win the matchup. Anything else? Right now, no.

Team prep and game planning on the coaches, execution on the players...we're all anxious to see who shows up after a demoralizing loss.
