The defense, back checking and fore checking made huge strides this year with the addition of Guentzel. There was a whole new energy to the team, much more effort.

Now it is time to learn a few lessons from BC and open up the offense next year. BC had so much more motion towards the net with second and third waves of trailers breaking towards the net where they could pick up centering passes from the corners for open shots on net. They seemed to cycle more in front of the net and the high slot instead of in the corners. We had the speed and talent to keep up with BC and we even had more scoring chances than BC, but their scoring chances were more open shots on net.

I remember when Lucia was at CC and the way they cycled and moved the puck to open players streaking in on net. It was tough to see them beat the gophers with Woog's dump and chase style, but it sure was fun to see them set-up those scoring chances. The style of our current team seems to have falling back into the Woog style of trying to out skate or stick handle the other team. That works some times, but you have to move the puck to set-up those scoring chances against the better teams.

Enough rambling, I just want to see us try some new motion systems and to pick up on the high scoring styles of teams like BC. We have the talent, just gotta get more shots at the open net with the goalie drifting to one side or the other.
