Since Minnesota's leadership has pretty much said we are one of the weak sisters of the Big Ten, maybe it is time to review whether Minnesota should be playing Wisconsin every year. If we cannot compete, it is not fair to the rest of the Big Ten. Same thing for Michigan State which gets Indiana each year. Let Wisconsin build a rivalry with Michigan State and Minnesota can play Indiana. If Indiana follows Jerry's lead and plays 4 weak non-conference games, then the winner of the annual game is half way to bowl eligible.

Been waiting all day to create this thread?

Wow. 1) Gophers/Badgers is the oldest series in football. 2) What makes You think that IU will be an easier win over UW the next 10 years? IU just hung 49 on OSU. Reach in your pocket, find your marbles and play the hand Your dealt.

Maybe if you can't handle this earth shattering news, or get over it, you need to cross over and cheer for WI.

Perhaps we can go independent like ND for football. Jerry could play every directional school in the upper midwest. His dream schedule. Teague can start a two ticket for one dollar promotion.
All home games of course.

If you read the thread about de-commits from Iowa and Wisky, you can see that IU is building something special. I don't think IU will be a weak sister in the Big10/11/12 in the next few years after seeing their last two games against MSU and OSU. I'll take the Illini over IU for our crossover.

Have You looked at ND's schedule this year? 6 wins, 15 extra practices and a bowl every year is critical to building a program.

Maybe the BIG would allow us to play St. Olaf every year to create an in-state rivalry...unless, of course, we thought they'd be too tough for us!

The message sent by the U to students, season ticket holders, and recruits, is that we have no confidence that our program will get any better so we are going to play the weakest schedule possible. When you don't buy tickets, we will then "beg" people to come for $10 a seat and hopefully get at least 40,000 to our games. Right now there is no value in buying season tickets at all. And recruits have to be scratching their heads.

Really not the message at all. Jerry Kill and his staff have a handle on what to do and for once, creative things are happening to get people in the stands which is the pivot point to rebuilding a product. Do you think Urban Meyer does not want to play at home for his entire non conference schedule with non BSC opponents? How about Les Miles? Take some time and check out their schedules since 2000. Plenty of softer than soft schedules, all at home.

Considering the Gophers still somehow lead the all-time series, it shows how lopsided it has been throughout different times in history.

Shortell hits 14 for 6 pts and get s the 2 pt conversion and you are starting a thread that says Rose Bowl.

this is a nominee for dumbest post/thread of the year. congrats. what a joke!

It is one of the worst mis-matches of all the crossover rivalries. I am sure Kill would be just fine with getting the Badgers off the schedule for a few years. Beilima probably wouldn't be in favor.

oh really. and this coming from a guy who has so far this year picked both unh and western michigan over our gophers. and our gophers handled both of them with ease. and who has then followed it up with cheap shots and digs at coach kill and the program over the last couple days. sorry if i have a hard time believing the sincerity of just about anything you post on this board regarding minnesota football. seems like you are far more interested in taking cheap shots and make wise cracks about stuff.

your point? that is my prediction. you have a problem with it?

If you want to rip others for discussing a legit topic maybe you should be prepared to get ripped for making such a bold prediction.

Nice try Brian Bennett.

This thread is dumb. Wisconsin and Minnesota will play every year until college football ceases to be. That being said, I cannot let all of this IU love go unrefuted.

2 close losses and 1 stolen commit are now all it takes to be building something special? Even with the switch by Kenney, IU still has an average stars of 2.78 according to Rivals. Iowa has a 3 and Wisconsin has a 3.15. Illinois has a 2.94 and is actually 26th overall by dint of having 19 commits to IU's 10.

IU has lost to Ball State 2 years in a row. If Minnesota lost to Ball State this year the board would combust. They're underdogs at Navy. Their lone FBS win this year is against an 0-6 MAC team in its first year in FBS.

Wake me up when IU actually beats a good team. Heck, wake me up when they beat a Big Ten team considering they're 0 for their last 11 attempts, 1 for their last 24, and 2 for their last 30. That middle number represents a .004 winning percentage over the equivalent of 3 Big Ten Seasons

ouch...

I cannot believe nobody has brought up the fact that this was Reusse's idea too. He wrote about it last year at some point.

I'm speechless.:)

Correction: My bad-I thought I was reading your "arm-chair AD" thread and was referring to the North Carolina game topic. I agree that dropping Wisc. is a silly idea and in no way agree with the premise. Dropping UNC is another thing altogether.
