So I just went through the Gopher Ticket Office to get two tickets for the Illinois game (trying to do my part to keep The Barn full and loud). I learned that only obstructed view seating is available for Michigan, that MSU and Indiana are pretty much sold out, and that only upper-deck-behind-the-basket seating is available for Penn State. For the NW, ILL, IA and WI games, only a smattering of seats in the corners and ends of the upper deck are available. I ended up with high-row tickets in Section 206, and paid full price.
There's been a lot of talk about how tickets are selling, and how much $ the program is hauling in this year. Some of the angst in the nonconference appears to have been justified, based on the competition and the academic calendar. But based on my experience today, I expect there will be some outstanding crowds and atmospheres for the Gophers in the next couple of months. And people are paying full price or more for the privilege of watching this team, so I think Teague and his bean counters will be pleased with how everything shakes out.
Here's to what should be one exciting conference season. Let's make sure we do our part.
