Just found out my season ticket partner is not "in" for next season due to his children's sports, etc.
I'm considering not keeping my current seats, mainly because I don't want the hassle of trying to find someone to use my other ticket. (I have other friends who are casual Gopher fans, but none would attend games on a consistent basis)
I thought about trying to get a seat alongside the friends we bar-hop with before each game, but it's highly unlikely any will become available.
My dilema brings a couple of questions:
Will there be good (preferably chairback) single seats available for season ticket purchase? I don't really care who I sit by. I'm reasonably social and just enjoy college football.
Is there anyone on this board who is looking (or knows someone who is looking) for someone to purchase one of their seats in a decent location?
Any ideas?

You'd be surprised what calling the ticket office will do for you.

I was in your position after my dad wasn't able to get to the games anymore. I tried for three straight seasons to get anyone interested. I even brought someone new to every game the last year at the Dome. If it wasn't for the new stadium, I'd still be looking. Luckily, two guys were impressed enough with the first season at the Bank to split the future season tickets. I can only say that if you spread the net wider, you might find that one person to catch. It sounds like it might be too late for that with your situation, but patience might pay off. I have no idea about the single ticket options, but maybe someone else could help with that?

Which is strange, since I asked for an additional seat; asked to move and keep all 4 seats. Done in a couple of days. I must have been courteous.

I have two seats in the front row on the visitors side (Section 112, seats 8 & 9) and the one next to these (10) always has a different person sitting there. Not sure if it is owned by a scalper or what the deal is. It may be worth a call.

CP-

A couple of thoughts.

1. A friend of mine ordered a single season ticket with a chair back 2 days before the Air Force game in 2009, so I would imagine they would be available now.

2. I have two season tickets I own myself. My wife rarely goes to games, so I enjoy bringing a different person to each game. I enjoy college football enough that I have no problem spending the money and bringing my brothers or other friends to the games. Usually they just bring the tailgate fare as their "toll" for the ticket.

I used to have a very negative opinion of the ticket office, largely due to their combination of incompetence coupled with surly customer service. I can handle one or the other, but not both. But in the last season of the metrodump, I won two season tickets at the preseason luncheon. The ticket office was fantastic about getting me 4 seats together (I've had 2 season tix for a while), and then got me 4 seats together at TCF. This cost me a bit in seniority, as I had 2 seats with zero years averaged in with my other 2. Which is why I'm in section 105 (with the rent-a-chairbacks) vs across the aisle in 107. But it was a fair deal, and the folks in the ticket office went above and beyond in accommodating me.

So I guess for the last couple of years I've had no complaints. And like others mentioned, with 4 seats I'll occasionally have an extra that's a PitA to get rid of. Especially for the November games, when my wife is a total weenie about going cuz of the cold. If you are indeed reasonably social, shoot me a message this fall and we can prolly work something out!

Anyone remember when we re-up are tickets?

And those of you who are calling into the ticket office are you doing it now or waiting until renewal starts? I just sent in my form last year with a request to get a couple extra seats, and got denied, so I'm hoping for better luck this year.

You would be much better off in 107. 105 is full of loudmouths and troublemakers.

March last year.

Bunch of savages in 105.

HEy, I resemble that remark! There is some trailer trash behind us (I think we're row 18 or so). Especially this one woman with a voice like fingers on a chalkboard. She's usually drunk out of her mind by the coin flip, and she just screams the whole game. I had to tell her to STFU one time when we had kids with us.

I put in a request to move across the aisle last year, but didn't have enough stroke points. I'll prolly try again this year. If I do move over to 107, it'll be the one positive thing for me to come out of the Brewster era.

Hey now! I am in 105 too. Towards the top, so I observe all of the hooligan behavior from above!

Rows 3-5 are the worst in 105. All those knobs should be dragged into the street and beaten.

PS I think we're goin to CA for labor day weekend!!!

Do the 105 folks yell at the opposing cheer squads? I would think row 3 in 105 would be easy for security to crack down on.

Those a-holes yell at everyone: band members, cheer squads, pimple-faced punks in autographed trucker hats, hottie baton twirlers from South Dakota.

HAHAHAHAHa.....we sit in Section 103 and we get such a kick out of those a$$ clowns in the front rows in 105. What a bunch of knob jobs. They especially love to stand up and do the 'that's another golden gopher 1st down' when we are losing 38-3 to Ohio State. I don't mind enthusiams, but when you look like a butt dart while doing it like those guys do, that is a different story.

I assume

you're being sarcastic....some of us are die hard Gopher fans. Don't fault us for TRYING to be enthusiastic in the face of the 2010 debacle. We were enjoying the game and the banter with the "enemy"

I think people have to remember they're not in their living room when they're at the game. Not everyone is going to behave to your own standards. Relax and take it all in stride. I only have one neighbor I have a problem with. It didn't mind it at first, but by the Penn St game he was just repeating the same nonsense ad nauseum. No Weber fan was he. Frankie says Relax.

1. If, in fact, we were doing the first down cheer while down big, that's our own little version of a Bronx cheer.
2. At that point in the OSU game, we were far too preoccupied with pestering the OSU band, so I doubt we cared that much anyway.
3. I'd be curious to know how the Gophers were down 38-3 in a game where the score was tied at 7.
4. Personally, I think that people who say "we" when referring to sports teams that they happen to be fans of are knob-jobs and butt darts, but to each their own.

The seats should have built in turtle shells for all the fans to disappear into once we're behind in a game. That would prevent any dreaded enthusiasm on the fans part.

Thanks to past dealings with the ticket office, there is absolutely nothing that would surprise me!

Over the past 25 years, I have found the ticket office to be very accommodating. Never had a reasonable request refused.
