Herewith, my observations on Seantrel Henderson, having observed him for one game sitting within feet from him:

From the start of his recruitment, my odds of Seantrel going to UMN were 1% or less. They are now 50%. Sitting within ten feet of him for three hours during a Gopher game, I observed something that was curious to me: his comfort level here. He was totally at ease and seemed to be seeking out well-wishers. That wasn't to say he was hoping for someone to recognize him. Quite the opposite. He was extremely soft spoken and shy, but when anyone shouted out his name, he was beyond gracious, affirmatively gesturing in their direction and smiling genuinely. He seemed to be completely happy at TCF Bank Stadium and it seemed so strangely familiar that it was like he was already a Gopher.

From the start of his recruitment, I've said he was 100% USC. That doesn't seem natural to me anymore. Nor does Oklahoma, though both those schools have legitimate arguments. Notre Dame is a non-starter to me for a variety of reasons. I have a truly-held, gestalt, feeling that Seantrel will be a Gator or a Gopher. I wouldn't blame him for choosing either of these schools.

Edit- there is no inside baseball here. These are just my opinions.

I think, based on my background (which some of you know, and which I will not divulge to others) that Florida is the finalist, along with Minnesota. I have a truly-held, gestalt, feeling like I have never had, that Seantrel will be a Gator or a Gopher. I wouldn't blame him for choosing either of these schools.

Wow. I have no idea who you are or what your background is, but with a) the allusion to Nietzsche in the title b) news like this, you're ok in my book. I'm just going to assume you have secret knowledge and psychic powers. :)

+1 with what MBAGuy said. If it doesn't delve into your personal life too much might I ask how you were so lucky to have such good gopher tix?

:clap::clap:::clap:

This post is the best thing I've heard all week. I sincerely hope that Seantrel becomes a Gopher. He can have legendary status here if during his tenure (and hopefully with a 2005 era Vince Young-esque Marqueis Gray at the helm) the Gophers are able to ascend at/near the top of the Big Ten Heap.

Maybe Seantrel will play USC 3 times as a Gopher. 2010, 2011, and 2012 in Pasadena for the Rose Bowl?

I honestly think there is a very slim chance of him staying home, but who knows. I hope he would want to represent his home State and stay but that's easier said than done when when you have Pete Carol and Urban Meyer recruiting you.

I posted this yesterday:

While I too, think it is a long shot, when I was tailgating at the Purdue game, several "supposed alumni in the know" were very confident that he may be a Gopher. They were stating that he really likes Tubby, and wanted to play basketball too. I checked it out and saw he was a two star for hoops.

I didn't want to start a new thread because it may be a bunch of BS, but wondering if anyone had heard this. Sorry if this has been discussed before. Heck, I'm just a noob here.

While was at the EP football game last night some more people were talking like its a done deal. I'm not naive enough to think these people know anything for sure, heck, I doubt Seantrel knows for sure, but they do get scoops, and many have proved to be right.

Everything I've heard is what a good kid he is. I wish him the best no matter what he decides.

Last point, I just think there is a decent chance he'll stay. Now I'll just wait and see.

Has Seantrel given any indication of when he might commit? Will he wait until the AA game or will it be sooner (or later)?

If he would commit to us, it would be great if it were at least a couple weeks before the deadline, as it may encourage other recruits to look our way.

All wishful thinking, of course. Even if he does not live up to the hype, just the attention of signing the #1 recruit will be tremendous.

He has said he will likely commit on signing day.

If he were to do that, it would be a huge recruiting advantage. Brewster would milk that sucker.

FWIW - Rivals is reporting that it's now a three-team competition between ND, OSU, and USC, with Minnesota pretty much out of the running.

As long as I'm thinking happy thoughts...signing Henderson after all the recruiting services said we were out of it might be the only better then signing Henderson. :)

it seems like the Hendersons only like to talk about the schools other than Minnesota. My hope is that they do this because they assume everyone knows we're in the mix. I would think that rivals would ask the direct question and not extrapolate from the absence of minnesota talk. But we've seen it before where we were declared out, and yet we were still in. So i'm not sure they ask the direct question.

Both rivals and scout go a lot by things such as visits and interviews, trying to gauge where they think the player is leaning in order to judge the interest level. I don't think they directly ask the player(s) their interest.

Pete- I'm right there with you! I have given us a 10% chance to land Seantrel and I now think that we may be the school that everyone forgets about but in the end I truly now feel he will be in maroon and gold when its said and done!

So do I, USC maroon and gold.

we just need to keep showing him some love! Don't forget we do have the "HOME" advantage!

I hope he does chose MN, but most of his attention does seem elsewhere.

I'm not totally convinced we aren't among his final two (or three). Of course, we were probably in Floyd's final two (or three) as well.

There would be advantages for him to stay home.

he is going to wait till signing day to commit so when he commits to the gophers he doesnt go from the #1 recruit to #9... like all Gopher recruits

By waiting until February he'll have an opportunity to see how easy it will be get grab rebounds on the basketball team with our excellent big men, forwards and guards. He'll realize that he has a great opportunity to walk on and get a Big 10 championship ring and go deep in the NCAA tournament.

Then he leaves for the NFL. After that he comes back to town in sales/marketing/financial planning and uses all of his relationships grown as a local college athlete to do very well financially and be around family.

FWIW he does seem to be conducting this very maturely. I am not a recruitnik (i just made that one up), but i have seen quite a few guys jerk us and other schools around on during the process. Our good buddy WLA comes to mind here. He has not changed his leader several times for effect. He's been pretty quiet and from here it appears he's taking a good mature look at his options.

I would love to see him come here, but i do realize that the U isnt for everyone, just the same as USC wouldnt be for everyone. By extension though, if he commits elsewhere I will wish him luck, but that is the end of where I care about his playing career (unless he becomes he becomes a Viking later on), but i get really tired of hearing the "Look what this local guy who now plays for the University of NotMinnesota is doing for his team." They chose elsewhere, good for them, but i no longer care.

I don't know why you guys do this to yourselves, it's just going to make it more painful when he goes to USC :(
