Dan Dakich interviewed Jerry Palm on the NCAA Tournament.

Jerry said that the committee doesn't care about how you finish the season. He also said that they don't care about the teams conference record. He said the Gophers are in if they beat the teams they have to beat.

And I saw Yahoo posted a bracket as of today and they had the Gophers a #6 seed. Pretty amazing I guess. LOL

That makes the performance and results all right........

I'm certain they would welcome a team that finishes 0-5/2-10 with open arms!! You should speak to Selection Sunday about that

Wait what does this have to do with me? I just posted something I listened to. When did I say that this current slide was okay?

It will be interesting to see what the Committee would do if we go 8-10 and lose in the first round of the BTT. If we go 8-10 and win the first round I think we're a lock. Hopefully we win out and take make the decision easy for them.

I have no idea how much the RPI is valued in the selection process, but even after getting spanked twice in a row, our RPI is a rock solid 15.

Go Gophers!!

You seem strongly pro-Tubby from some of your other posts.

This is interesting, because what I've heard in the past contradicts that statement. I've heard that the committee really looks at how you finished the season, and your conference record.
Two interesting sides. We'll see how everything goes!

Great, we will get in and get bounced in the first round. Hooray!

What part of "if they beat the teams they are supposed to" equals finishing out 0-5?

I'm thinking it implies winning at least 2 of their last 3 games, and probably their 1st round game in the BTT as well.

that would be 3-2 in their last 5 games.

THAT gets them in with probably an #8 or #9 seed.

4-1 gets them possibly a #6/7 seed, 5-1 gets them a #5/6 seed, 6-1 gets them a #4/5 seed. 7-1 gets them a #3/4 seed, and finally, 8-0 gets them a #2/3 seed.

I think I would like our chances better in a 7-10 NCAA tourney game than I do against any Big Ten team not named Nebraska or Penn State. Not sure if it's style/scheme or scouting or what, but we just don't play nearly as well in the B10 as we do outside of it, even against reasonably good teams (non conference, NIT, etc)

Agreed. I can only hope that Tubby loosens the reigns now instead of waiting until the Big Ten tournament (or later) as he often does

We can all be upset with how the team quit in the last 2 games and still hope we win at least 3 of those that remain. The reality is, if we finish 8-10 and win our opening BTT game, we are in. We will have the most negative fan-base of any team that makes it. But we'll be in. I hope everyone can hit the reset button on Selection Sunday.

Will the gophers get in if we beat Indiana and then lose the last 3?

No. But I don't believe that combination of events is within the realm of possibility. If they beat Indiana there is zero chance that they blow all of those other three.
