....Trevor Mbakwe looked in a mirror and remembered that he was the toughest SOB on the court and decided to play like it for a change. That was the best Trevor has played in a long time and he finally gave this team the spark it has been missing for a long time now. He was unstoppable early and it seemed like every play he was all over the court.

Awesome to see the bench show up as well with Elliot and Mav playing great, smart basketball. Hell if we could have hit a few threes the game might not even have been close the way they were taking care of the ball. Tubby has taken a lot of bashing but tonight I felt like he did a grat job managing the game and he made the right substitutions in key situations.

Finally, the block by Williams was just sick. We all knew he could jump but that was unreal to time it like that and get that high off the ground. Haven't watched sportscenter yet but have to think that has a shot as a top play nominee tonight.

Great win and hopefully it reminds these guys that if they play smart and work together they are capable of so much more than what we have seen the past few weeks. Trevor needs to play every game left in his college career just like this one, if he does that the team will finally have that go to guy they have been missing and maybe just maybe they can live up to the promise we all saw early in the year when they looked awesome.

Go Gophers!

Trevor was the hardest working man in show business tonight.

I knew it was over when Dre hit the free throw to put us up 4. I was chomping at the bit when Trevor missed those two free throws when were up 6 with less than a minute left and then watford came down and drilled a 3 with coleman's hand right in his grill, but we held it together and pulled it out.

I think one of the most critical buckets was when we were down 8 early in the second half, it looked like Indiana could go on a big run, and Maverick hit a big three. It started a 15-4 run and we never trailed again. In fact, it started a string in which our bench scored 13 points in a row.

I'm guessing I wasn't the only one who was thinking "here we go again" when it appeared the wheels were starting to come off. Proud of the guys for continuing to fight.

I was thinking about this as I was driving home. The team needed to re-demonstrate to themselves that if they keep chopping wood and avoid giving up, they can beat anyone. When they were down 8, that thing could have gone either direction. I just think they decided they weren't going to let each other down or let the crowd down. I truly believe the energy from the crowd was a big factor in them not rolling over.

I never thought I would say that Mav has "big-game balls" ala sam Cassell , but I agree that his play was key to keeping the Gophers in the game and starting the comeback.

Yep, Mav gave us some huge minutes. That was a big time contribution off the bench.

Go Gophers!!

The difference last night was the bench. When Ingram hits a pair of free throws, you know things are going your way. They took care of the ball and didn't have a lot of unforced errors.

Trevor's block early in the game was a perfect tone setter.

Go Gophers!!

Game was won when Dre intercepted the pass with a couple second left.

I thought there were two turning points.

1. Elliott's time.
2. With 4:39, Zeller hits two free throws to put Indiana up by 1. We return with a layup by Austin and an old-fashioned 3 pt play, next possession Dre nails the 3. Gophers up five.

I gotta' go with EE's stellar performance, and Mav did solid work as well. When EE went on his little run, that's when I really started believing this was going to be the Gophers' night.

Dre's 3 finally gave me the belief that we may hold on.

The Goose was huge. He is a smart, hard-working player. He does a lot of things that don't appear on the stat sheet.

I'm looking forward to seeing more stretches of Mav and Dre on the floor together the rest of the way. Both looked more comfortable when they were able to share the point duties and teams need to account for both on the perimeter.

What happened to Welch and Oto?

Tubby finally shorten his bench? If so, that should have happened games ago.

Sorry if this has been discussed in another thread.

Austin Hollins nifty layup for a three point play. Austin Hollins D on Hulls in the second half.

Dre got a lot of good looks last night due to him being able to roam the floor and search for shots. If he and Austin hit just a few more last night the game would have been a blowout. We are a much better team when Mav is able to run the point and not turn it over.

Afurry, really good point. Dre and Austin kept getting these great looks and every time I was thinking "you are due...count it!" but no. But to their credit and to their mates credit they didn't get down (bench picked up the team for a change). Finally when Dre hit that three in the corner and from the top of the key on the screen it was awesome!

I knew it was going to be the Gophers night when Andre Ingram clanged in 2 FT's off the back iron. That came at a critical juncture when IU led 48-46 and a couple of misses there could have really sunk the Gophers spirit. Instead, the ball miraculously went thru the hoop and the Gophers kept momentum.

You have such a great way of negating a great effort by our guys by saying "miraculously".

Sorry to hear the win spolied your night. Are you going to be OK?

Watching Andre Ingram shoot FT's makes the manufacturers of rims and backboards smile...They know with shooting touch like Andre's the lifespan of rims and backboards at Williams Arena will be greatly shortened, thereby increasing future orders and prosperity. Yes, those makes were both miraculous. Physics students at MIT will be studying the footage for years trying to get a grasp of how either went thru the hoop.

Yep, after all of the poor plays and the grief he's gotten for it, it was great to see Maverick make a big contribution to the victory. I guess you could say the same for EE.

I remember about 5 free throws that were like that. Not pure, but effective. I didn't know it was won on this play but it showed some attitude and cohones--late in the game, shot clock winding down, Rodney gets the ball on the top of the key with about 10 on the SC, he waves Elliot out of the high post and drives the left side of the lane and scores over Zeller (i think Zeller). First time I have ever seen Rodney take control like that. He knew what to do, he knew he could do it-- and then he did it.

You mad...

Extended minutes with both Dre and Mav on the court together, and those were good minutes. I hope Tubby has seen the light and will continue to play them together. It makes a huge difference to have that one more shooter on the floor, especially when you have Elliott passing back out. Maverick showed some flashes last night of being capable of handling the ball under duress.
