Minnesota 27 #6 Purdue 14
A talented but underachieving Gopher team rises up on national tv to dominate Boilers. Minnesota runs off to 27-0 halftime lead and goes on to avenge previous season beatdown at Purdue that cost them an outright Big Ten title and a Rose Bowl date with USC and O.J. Simpson. Jim Carter has a punishing 49-yard touchdown run and two short scoring plunges.
The Gophers get an interception from a player who earned letters in football, hockey and baseball at Minnesota. Can you name him?
Minnesota gets a key 4th down tackle for loss by a defensive back who holds the school career interception record and will go on to play for the Vikings. Can you name him?

Purdue has a versatile Heisman running back hopeful who sees his dream fade with a 15 carry, 48 yard day. Can you name him?
Purdue has a much-touted quarterback who will go on to a 2nd place Heisman finish in 1969 and be the 3rd overall pick in the 1970 draft. He will have a disappointing NFL career with the Browns and Bears. Can you name him?

Leo: I have some possible answers:
1. Gopher interception out of Owatonna-Noel Jenke
2. Tackle for loss out of Edina- Jeff Wright
3. Purdue running back- Leroy Keyes
4. Purdue quarterback-Mike Phipps

Nice work Doc! It was 44 years ago today, Murray Warmath taught the team to play.

The 49 yd run by Carter was unreal. No moves, he just knocked about 4-5 guys in their backside.

Great job on the quiz Leo and great job answering Doc. I'm always amazed about Noel Jenke. (How did become so good in hockey?)
