Gophers finish unbeaten, starting a string of 3 such seasons early in Bernie Bierman's tenure. Minnesota is outplayed in a blizzard with 45 mph winds but Gophers recover a fumble at the Badger 1-yard line and punch it in for touchdown in 3rd quarter. The score is recorded by a College Football Hall of Famer from Rice Lake. The stern and aloof Bierman, a man who rarely praised his players, referred to this Gopher as "the toughest player he ever coached". Can you name him?

DL65- You are correct, sir, and, no, I did not see him play! Thank you.
