Minnesota 34 Purdue 7
Gophers sprint to 27-0 halftime lead and cruise to easy win as Boilers lose 6 fumbles. Minnesota completes just 2 passes but rolls up 340 yards rushing, 177 by a flashy JC transfer from Ohio who will go on to a 9-year career as a receiver/kick returner with the Broncos. Can you name him?

I remember when Cal Stoll had both Ricky Upchurch and Larry Powell. I actually thought Larry Powell had more potential than Ricky, but his career was cruelly cut short when Larry contracted Guillain-Barre syndrome. Unbelievable bad luck. Imagine what the Golden Gophers would have been like if they had both Ricky and Larry healthy in the backfield. I am grateful for the explosive gridiron memories that Ricky Upchurch provided this Golden Gopher.
