Dear Walrus- Thank you for your kind words. I am glad that you are having fun with this little feature.
George Kline has 20 points and 15 boards for Minnesota. In season finale, 14-8 Gophers cost Buckeyes a share of Big 10 title. Ohio State gets 17 points and 13 rebounds from a future MLB slugger. After a number of years in the NL in which he showed tremendous though inconsistent power, he emerged as a monster with some awful teams in the AL. Can you name him?

Frank Howard was the big guy

I talked to Frank Howard a couple of years ago at Twinsfest. I mentioned his basketball career at OSU.
He lit up like a Christmas tree. Only the old-timers remember him playing basketball. He mentioned George Kline and a couple of other Gophers.

I remember seeing Frank Howard play minor league baseball in the Three-I League. His Green Bay team came to Winona to play their team. I was visiting relatives in Winona at that time and they took me to the game. If I recall correctly he hit a vicious line shot over the left field fence that game.
