Tom Kondla has 36 points for Minnesota. A guard who came west to Minnesota to play quarterback has 8 points, including a big basket in the last minute, thus helping 9th place Gophers keep Michigan in Big Ten basement. Can you name him?

When Ray played, dunking was not allowed. Coach John Kundla commented when they outlawed dunking they took away 90 per cent of Ray's scoring ability.

Player's at that time were allowed to play in charity tournaments. Going to the U at that time myself and a buddy recruited football players Ray Parsons, Hubie Bryant, Ray Stevens, and their friend, David Thompson. All were from Uniontown, PA. Thompson only had one eye, but was a hellava basketball player. I lived in Coon Rapids at that time and they had a basketball tournament
As part of Coon Rapids Snow Days. It always drew decent crowds, but once everybody got wind that Gopher players were in it. It was SRO. The dunk display they put on was unreal. Needless to say we won the tourney. Parsons was a 6' 5" version of Cookie Holmes and could've played for Kundla.
