Kevin McHale has 20 points and Mychal Thompson adds 20 for Gophers. In a rare-for-the-time nationally televised Sunday afternoon game, Gophers rally from 68-63 hole in last 4 minutes.
Minnesota goes up for good at 69-68 on a steal and slam dunk by a 6'3" reserve junior guard from Detroit. Can you name him? Louisville gets 21 points from a 6'4" shooting guard. A legendary dunker, he would go on to lead Louisville to an NCAA championship before going on to a 12-year NBA career, all spent with Utah. Can you name him?

One of the loudest and best games I ever saw in person. The Gophers had beaten Purdue and Joe Barry Carroll the day before. I believe the reserve guard was Bill Harmon. The Louisville guard was Darrell Griffith. McHale was named MVP of the game.
