THIS DAY IN GOPHER HISTORY- FEBRUARY 12, 1991

Minnesota 88 Northwestern 70
Disappointing 11-15 Gophers hammer hapless Wildcats, who fall to 0-15 in Big 10 play.Minnesota gets 22 points from a 6'5" guard from Bloomington Jefferson High. As a senior he made the All-Big 10 team and was a 2nd round NBA draft pick. Can you name him?

That be Kevin Lynch? The year is throwing my confidence off a bit :D

I remember sitting in the stands screaming for Clem to start Lynch over Ray Gaffney. I was so happy when he finally did.

Plato and Socrates lived before Christ. Not sure about Dr. Don.

Leo and others: Do you remember the Northwestern game when the late Coach Birdsong had the meltdown on the sidelines and started walking up into the stands? Was this the game?

Birdsong came up to our row 20 and sat 3 seats from me. Shook some hands and then went back to the bench. Unreal.

On the night of Feb. 7, 1994, Ricky Byrdsong was in a Minnesota arena to coach a basketball team . . . or so everyone there thought. It certainly started out like a routine collegiate experience, with Byrdsong's athletes from visiting Northwestern University beside him on the bench, eager not to lose their eighth game in a row.
