Minnesota 85 at #11 Detroit 80
Gophers shock unbeaten Titans behind Larry Mikan's 29 points and 16 boards. Minnesota also gets 21 points from a JC transfer guard from Illinois. As team captain he will earn team MVP award during this season before going on to become a Gopher coach and a success in the Twin Cities corporate world. Can you name him?
Bonus Question- Detroit has a monster power forward who has 34 points and 17 boards in this game. After just one year of Division I basketball, he will join the ABA and be a star. In a landmark Supreme Court case, he will successfully challenge the NBA's rule forbidding college players to play before their high school classes graduate. He will score more than 17,000 points with a number of teams and finally win a ring with the Lakers. Can you name him?

Al Nuness and Monix

or Al Nuness and Spencer Haywood

Leo: It's Spence Haywood. Bonus question can you name the Detroit high school that Haywood went to?

Doc- He went to Pershing High but I only know this from reading about Haywood yesterday. Thank you!

Leo: You are right. Played only 1 year for the Titans and then went to ABA. I think Dick Vitale was the coach.
