In all three games athletes predominately from Minnesota outhustled the Gophers and our coaches were out-coached.
Bright spot was we did some hard running for once, with decent averages. It's obvious that Shortell is the passing QB and Gray the running QB, so why not play Gray sometimes at running back when Shortell is in? He weighs 245 and has moves the other TBs lack. Hard to see the Gophers winning in the Big Ten with a 50% passer (I'm assuming Shortell would do better than that with more experience - not sure Gray will). Defense was terrible, especially against the pass (a Gopher trait for decades). It does seem at times that there is a rain cloud over the Gopher program - one that arrived around 1969.
