Especially when you factor in how our game with #8 went and if you look at the results of other Top 25 action today. I think a 7-3 Gophers squad is more than deserving of a continued Top 25 ranking over a number of other teams that are/were also ranked.

I think they'll stay. In addition to the Gophers, Clemson, Duke, Nebraska, Notre Dame, LSU, and Texas A&M all lost and were probably much less impressive than the Gophers. For sure I think Notre Dame (3 losses) and the 2 SEC teams (4 losses) drop out.

And there just aren't that many teams that seem likely to (re)join the rankings. Texas (improving every week), USC, Missouri (probably have done enough to get in despite loss to Indiana), Boise State, Colorado State, and Marshall all would be candidates for the top 25. At some point I'd expect Marshall to get in by default almost.
 

The fact that we were in the "College Playoff Top 25" but not the other two* (AP, Coaches) tells me that the 13-person committee is at least looking a little deeper into things than just glancing at final scores.

Nothing to correct. You are not wrong. I am glad there is a committee whose sole job and purpose is to FULLY evaluate all the teams in a very thorough manner and not just base their rankings on amount of hype/media coverage like it seems to be with the AP poll imo. Truly believe that Minnesota was and still is deserving of a Top 25 CFP ranking and truly believe our Gophers are in fact one of the Top 25 FBS teams in the country. That is not hyperbole or being a homer. I do think our Gophers are one of the best 25 teams in the country.

I have often thought the majority of media voters are just as clueless on the rankings as they like to claim some of the coaches are. i.e. Have heard/read on more than one occasion that some think coaches don't really deeply consider who they are ranking.

Proof that some media doesn't get it: You were seeing votes for a very overrated regional FCS team in the AP top 25 for a number of weeks this year. Now that good sir is truly ridiculous.

I doubt it as well but there is a shot since the #14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21 and 24th ranked teams lost.

My guess is we will just miss the top 25.

I think the Gophers may actually climb a spot or two, despite the loss.
There are just too many teams that had worse losses that will have to fall (Nebraska, LSU, Notre Dame, Clemson, Duke and Texas A&M). 2 of Minnesota's 3 losses are to teams that will probably be in the Top 6.

If this were a poll it would be different. A committee is more likely to understand that a one-score loss to a team like OSU pretty closely corresponds to how they had the teams ranked going into the game.

USC, Louisville, Oklahoma, Missouri may move into the committee's rankings. But when you look at those four and the 6 above, Minnesota probably belongs in the top-half of that list for now.

Actually, I'd argue you were consistent. Wrong once again. Reputation unaffected.

Week 13 CFP Committee Playoff Rankings were released tonight at 6pm CT: Our Minnesota Golden Gophers remain in the CFP Top 25 at..........#25. And they fully deserve to still be in the Top 25. No doubt in my mind whatsoever.

Aren't you the guy we said the TCU game was a lock after i suggested the TCU was a LOT better than people realized? Then on the other hand, staking your reputation on this probably does mean that much .:rolleyes:

Yep - I thought we would beat TCU. I also thought we would beat IL. Never claimed to be right all the time and have zero issue admitting when I'm wrong (unlike folks who start threads when they predict something right). No need to take yourself too serious. FTR - the GH reputation remark was a joke - I'm actually surprised no one ran with it before the rankings came out.
 

Pleasantly surprised we stayed in the top 25. The more I think about it though it makes sense. A lot of teams ahead of us in last week's rankings at much worse losses.

When was the last time a football team lost a game and stayed in the same spot in the poll? I'm starting to like this new poll a little bit.

Happy we're in the top 25 still, but I don't think we're actually the 25th best team in the country.

Is there a point to this statement, or is it simply a weak attempt to insult me?
 

It's also much easier to promote two teams ranked in the top 25 with both teams having a chance at the Big Ten Title game. The Nebraska vs Minnesota game on Saturday could get some nice ratings with it being one of the few early games with both teams ranked in the top 25.
