THINK POSITIVE: Who needs Royce White? The Gophers are losing their two best players after this season, but Rodney Williams has the potential to be a superstar and the team still has two legitimate post players (Iverson, Sampson) and a 3-point bomber (Hoffarber) for next season. Not to mention the starting PG (Nolen) and best bench player (Joseph) are coming back. This team is also in the running for 5-star PG Cory Joseph and Trevor Mbakwe has a great chance of playing next season. Who knows? Maybe Hollins continues to grow and can contribute right away in 2010-11.
THINK NEGATIVE: Royce White was supposed to be the centerpiece of this program for possibly the next 2-3 years. Now, without him, the Gophers are left with too many decent/above average role players. What's next? Tubby hasn't exactly made a splash in the recruiting this year (2010) and the Gophers lose their two best players after this season. It looks like after 2009-10, things are going to be tough for the program. Back to being average. Tubby was supposed to elevate the program to new heights, and he appeared to be on his way, but what about next season? What about the future? I don't care what anyone says, you can't win at the major college level without a bona-fide star. Hell, the Gophers don't even have a player that made the all-conference team, let alone an all-american-type player.
