Sorry for shouting, but I just wanted to get this through all the heads of the idiots who say moronic things like:

"All we need is someone who has done X, and then we will be successful."

Not only is that insulting to the intelligence of anyone who knows anything about college football (or sports in general), but in particular, it is insulting to the athletic administration at the University.

IF IT WERE THAT EASY, WE WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN MEDIOCRE TO TERRIBLE THE LAST 4 DECADES.

We've also had 1 situation in the last 4 decades where we were in a similar situation where there was a successful head coach sitting out there on a *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#ing platter for us to just pick up. Coincidentally, it was the one coach we didn't fire.

THIS. I've been trying to make this point in other threads but maybe it is better on its own. This same statement applies to the argument of "the reason we aren't winning is ______. There are MANY reasons why we haven't won big in 40+ years.

He left here with a losing record just ahead of the Luther Darville "handing-out 100 bills" scandal. Lou actually lost 4 of his last 5 games as Head Coach here so maybe we would have ended-up firing him too. He won at N.D. but he had to fire his own kid to get that last year at South Carolina. He may have turned the "U's" fortunes around but that just speculation.

Yep, I've said this before as well, and of course, I agree 100% with you dp. I may have a vision on how I'd like to see things work, but really, I don't care what we do, I just wanna see this team win games, and a whole bunch of them. Whether we pound it out in a Wishbone, or let it fly Mike Leach style, I don't care. If we are a team that loads up defensively and wins repeatedly 13-10, whatever. If it's getting us wins, I don't care, just win (with integrity and within the rules of course) that's all that matters with the football program really.
