Maturi is either shaking his head in disbelief pissed that this guy is finding new, unique ways of making him looking bad, or laughing knowing that finally Bruinicks, the regents, and boosters might now instruct him to fire Brewster.

Reusse and his peers are are beginning to re-thinking the reality that the gift that keeps on giving might not be around to provide them easy, frequent material.

This one will go down in the record books as possibly the biggest meltdown in Twin Cities sports history if they can trace this to being orchestrated by Coach Brewster. How does Maturi and Bruinicks keep him on after this? At least Mason was a legit candidate for a huge vertical move when he went to Columbus. Coach Brewster had another million, plus 400K a buyout coming to him if he kept his mouth shut and did the right things between now and August. Will he get hired to coach the TE's at Carelton after this?

See, the absurdity of what you just said is why we should wait to get more info before jumping to conclusions. Plus, it isn't unheard of for a coach to initiate contact. After all that is how tubby got here. Nothing that has happened is out of the norm. What will be out of the norm is our media's response which will sound a lot like what you just said.

This is a desperate act. How does he stay here at this point knowing he's on the hot seat and possibly sabotaged his recruiting efforts?

Hell, even Tubby was possibly a year away from separation from Kentucky and the story I got of Tubby coming here didn't include him coming to us. He was smart enough to know that if he got on the plane with Maturi, it was over in Lexington.

His actions hurt his credibility and probably cost him 600K.

you don't know the facts. You're guessing just like everybody else.

Thank you for continuing to write good common sense on this board. I'd like to, but can't take the nonsense seriously enough, so too often just rant on something that doesn't amount to a hill of beans. It's called blowing off steam. This place isn't worth serious thinking, yet there are a few like yourself who forge ahead. I'm tipping my hat, BTW.

I can think of at least two people who spend half their lives on the OT board and would be crushed to hear your assessment.

Mason wasn't a legit shot for a huge vertical move. He did some nice things here, but I doubt he was ever seriously in the mix at OSU or any of the other locales that had openings during his tenure at Minnesota. The guy is/was unbeliveably lazy.

This is true. Your credibility just increased 2000 points from an already substantial position.

100% incorrect. Mase nearly landed the OSU job.

I stand corrected then, but that would have been a huge mistake on their part.

Not necessarily. Ohio State basically recruits itself and Mase would have had a much bigger recruiting budget and he may have ended up personally recruiting more than he did at Minnesota. How could he pass up the private jet and free golf passes on the best courses in America, just for being the OSU HC. He also would have brought his potent running game to OSU, which would be a perfect fit. Mase knows the game and with having enough talent for both sides of the ball (unlike at Minnesota), he may have been very successful there.

+1. OSU recruits itself. Imagine what Mason could have done with with a load of 4 star players on defense.

My question would then be, "How did he lose the job to someone who coached at D-2?" Mason may have done well at OSU, but he's still a lazy ass in my book.

I can see this. But I still wonder what the heck he was thinking when he turned down UGa to stay at Kansas and then left for Minnesota one year later?

The speculation was that it revolved around custody issues. His ex-wife the mother of his older kids, didn't take to them leaving for Georgia.

That is correct. Family issues was the reason.

Tressel won national championships for 1-AA Youngstown State. Not DII. And just like Mason, he had tons of connections with people in the tOSU program. His faction had a bit more sway than Mason's faction.

And look where all our Mason recruits were coming from - Ohio. He already had good connections with Ohio high school coaches, he would've been just fine in recruiting had he got his dream job in Columbus.
