Playing along with the recent rumors that a coach will be know tomorrow, I would guess that the new coach will Edsall or someone who most of us would consider an upgrade from Edsall. If the hire was someone from a tier even lower than Edsall, like Kill or Chryst, the "U" would have leaked something by now that indicated it was NOT Edsall who was expected to be the next coach. I can't imagine the "U" allowing it to get out that a coach will be known tomorrow, allow the buzz to build all night, and then tweet/facebook a name that ranks lower on everyone's lists than Randy Edsall.

This certainly is high credit for the U but its true. The fact they have touted the "person they have" and the announcement is going to be made through social media. The U is going for flair here, BIG TIME. I think they have to know the guy they have got is going to create some excitement. I cannot believe they would be going down these roads if the guy is Jerry Kill. By using social media they are looking for national hype.
Now Marcus Fuller says Maturi told Shooter he is not worried about being behind on recruiting. This is not something you say if Jerry Kill is your guy. Heck it doesn't seem to be something you say if Edsall is your guy. Who knows but I feel very very good about what we are going to hear.
I think the credit is deserved this time and that the U is firmly in control here. I say that Petersen and Harbaugh were 1a and 1b. The other names are intentional leaks of "realistic" candidates meant to distract away from pursuing one the top targets. If they can't get a top guy, there is no way that the U would hire a name lesser than one of the plan B guys (i.e., Doogie's five), so I think the OP is spot on.
Don't forget Shama's little nugget saying don't be sure the search is going poorly. That felt like it was a message straight from Mona, given their history.
There have been a couple of statements like this. Didn't BobbyB make a statement similar to this to someone at a bball game last week. Something like, Gopher fans are going to be very happy with who we have? Am I making this up.
The fact that there has been zero info from the U means that anyone who says things are going poorly no nothing more than any of us.
