Mbakwe was amazing tonight: dunking, and 1's, grabbing boards, steals, blocks...everything but a jump shot. If you didn't get to see the game this was the type of PF we've been missing for the past 2 years. Trevor showed off both his athleticism and his toughness tonight and was key in getting this win.

Two wow plays tonight:

Mbakwe skys high to tip away a pass towards center court, runs it down and finishes with a dunk.

Hoffarber behind the back dribble to lose his man, then throws a lob to Trevor for a two hand dunk.

The only negative tonight was the failure to put Western Kentucky away. This was largely a defensive problem as we just couldn't get the stops necessary to extend the lead to an unreachable amount. The Gophers had plenty of opportunities to do so and they can't let chances to put a team away go to waste.

A concern for the future: Without Devoe, we don't have enough ball handlers. It's really just Nolen and Hoffarber and everyone else is shaky handling the ball.

I think if we make more free throws tonight, it's a laugher by the mid-point of the second half.

Three games

Three double doubles. Adds a whole new dynamic to the team that we haven't had since???? Courtney James? I'm at a loss to compare him to a past player.

Yes. He reminds me of Courtney James, but hopefully a better person. James could make a FT now and then though.;)

Yea missing free throws is starting to get ridiculous but other than that great effort and game by the boys.

We could definitely use another player who can dribble by his man to beat the press like Nolen. Devoe isn't exactly great at beating his man on the dribble or handling the ball against the press but he certainly is our second best at that. Man we could use him tomorrow on offense.

Mbakwe

He is extremely quick off his feet. I loved the play when he missed a left handed put back attempt, got his own rebound and immediately took it right back up for a right handed reverse, drawing a foul in the process. You love to have a guy with such a live body.
