The Southern: Kill begins third rebuilding job Thursday at Minnesota

We must be in bad shape

if he compares it more to joining southern illinois than northern illinois as southern illinois was REALLY in the shambles. Yikes . Previous regimes must have really run it into the ground. Depressing.

If after 15 days of Spring Practice.....

he says: "We have a long way to go" It could be Southern ILL all over again.

That's the spirit!

Of course he is going to say these things. He is a motivator, and a coach. He's not going to tell anyone, including the players, what he really thinks until the right moment. Anyone that has played, coached, or watched some sports knows that.

Good grief.

So you think the team is in good shape?

Of course he isn't going to say too much or play his hand yet, he hasn't even seen the players in real practices yet. But, he has said some very telling comments, just the fact that he doesn't even think we are as far along as northern was when he took over tells how bad of shape the program is in. It is sad to heard that it is farther away then we had hoped, but in a way it is good that we can get a lot better. That may sound crazy, but it means that when the program is turned around it will fundamentally much better and in par with the best in the B1G.

A long way to go? *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# YES we do. Why should Kill beat around the bush? WE HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO!!! And when we have a long way to go, the only way to start getting there is to get our asses going. Or, the Team and Coaches could do like some commentors and just *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#ing quit and give up.

He was back at SIU speaking; of course he was going to compare it to the job he did there. Anytime you have to start over, it is tough and its going to be tough for Coach Kill and his staff. But I got a feeling they are going to get it done swiftly here. The major sell is getting everyone on the same page regarding academics. Take note of the dirth of law related encounters we have heard about regarding football team student athletes.

EXACTLY! We won 3 $#$#@! games last year. Let's call a spade a spade and admit this team was terrible last year. We are not going to win the B10 this year.

Kill is setting the expectations that this is truly a rebuilding process. At least he is being realistic and is willing to talk to anyone about the current state of the program and what he is working on at the present time. It's a breath of fresh air.

Correct, we will not win the B10 this year. However, two of those three wins were at the very end, against Bowl winning teams. The defense finally started to gel and we have most everyone that mattered coming back on D. Replace Kyle T. with Kim R. and I think we will be fine ( from what I hear, Kim looks real good running and making cuts.Says his leg feels great). Corner play will be much better, too. It's going to rest on the QB play and the O line improvement or regression. I saw R. Foggie turn this program around with "dynamic" play, and I think MG is going to have the same effect. I predict we will win two trophy games.

I look for a couple of lean years for Kill. Right now he doesn't know who will play where. Spring will be tryout time, and they won't get much offense or defense in. In the fall, only parts of both O and D can be put in to get ready. It's not that easy to change an entire system. Frankly, that killed Brewster. His constant changing of coaches, offenses and even defenses was nutty, and it cost him his job. Consistancy wins, Kill will have that IF he gets enough time. The Twin Cities writers are brutal to coaches.
