There are eight small buckeyes on the back of OSU's jerseys. Just realized this, but apparently they started doing this back in 2013. At that point there were seven of course. The number of Buckeyes are meant to represent their total national titles. You see a similar thing on national team soccer jerseys representing the number of World Cups a country has won. i.e. Brazil, Germany, Italy have a number of stars on their jersey above their national team logos.
I think it would be cool if the Golden Gophers had seven small stitched on images of the classic, old fashioned Golden Gopher logo (see below) on the back of our jerseys representing our seven national titles. In the B1G is goes Michigan, Ohio State, Minnesota as far as totals.
Now unfortunately the rubes at Iowa and Wisconsin are not able to do this on their jerseys, but hey it is what it is.
