It was easy to see the reason for the loss today. The team came out flat from the opening tip and it was obvious. I had hopes at halftime cause although they played poorly in the first half they were only down three. But the gophers were never in the game.

In my opinion 4 games in 4 days caught up with this team. They simply ran out of gas.

Missing layups, not having the same defensive intensity as the previous two games, not working as hard to get the ball inside as the previous two games.

If you think the team had the same intensity as the previous two games, you were watching a different game than me.

Agree in some respect, but OSU had 3 in 3 and only goes 6 or 7 deep...

Many might not want to admit it, but how about OSU is better than us and played that way...just give them credit for blowing us out in the 2nd half.

Rosemountian....Did it ever occur to you that tOSU played the best 2nd half of basketball today than I have seen in years. Kudos to tOSU for their BTT Championship. They ARE GOOD!

OSU is the best team in Big 10 this year. Co-champs and B10T champs. 17-4 versus B10 teams.

LOL

Better than us? Ya' think?

They have the POY. They were 14-4 after starting 1-3 in the Big Ten.

They are a 2 seed and we are thankful to be invited.

YES, I admit it, they are better than us. Still, we can beat them because we did, but not today.

I would suggest part of why they blew us out in the second half was our lads were gassed.

I agree. Both that we can beat OSU and our fatigue played a huge roll in the loss (as did their freaky shooting and those guys named Turner and Lighty)

One thing someone mentioned that I believe is key for our team is going inside.

Today, IMO we didn't do it with either the frequency or (more importantly) the timing we did the last couple of days. Watch Ralph pass to Colton, he knows WHEN to, and makes it easy for Colton to score. Today, even when we did go inside it was late which made our bigs have to work hard for their points.

When we pass inside while our big is moving to the rim before his man has got position, or right when our big turns for the pass in the low post, we're in great shape.

Still, no shame today, this coach and these players are fighters, they played their hearts out and their way into the Big Dance.

Go Gophers!

The Buckeyes did not take over until completely until a brief stretch in which they hit like 12 shots in a row starting about the 12 minute mark. The gophers couldn't keep up with Lighty as he ran up and down the court.

Yes OSU played 3 games in 3 days with a short bench, but they didn't look tired. If you don't think the gophers looked tired/flat you were watching a different game.

Rose,

Golly gee, you should be coaching your own Big Ten team. ADs are really missing out.

Why not celebrate that we more than held our own against top teams for the first seven halves in four days? And we lose only three seniors.

Not ripping our guys at all, proud of the run they made!

Just pointing out that in my opinion, OSU had miles on their legs as well as us. We played one more game than they did, but lotsw of talk here was how we would be fresh since we blew out Purdue and our starters got some rest while they played a 2OT game vs Illinois. Amazing how some people can put the spin on things to come up with excuses.

Again, I think we played great all weekend, but I also think OSU would beat us 8 of 10 on a neutral court. just MO.

I didn't think it was an effort problem, but an execution problem combined with incredible shooting from the Buckeyes. There was one stretch where it went 1. Ralph misses an easy hook which leads to 2. Lighty taking it coast to coast for a layup followed by 3. Blake missing a wide open 3 and 4. Lighty getting another layup in transition. Add up the twists and turn in that sequence and the Gophers end up -9. If the Gophers make those shots, the Buckeyes don't get those transition baskets.

It was not ripping them at all. It is actually a compliment to their determination that they were so flat physically and managed to keep it close for as long as they did. Great effort this weekend from the team. Tubby had them as ready to play as they could have been in all 4 games.
