I have fond memories of "the rabbit" from the late years of Memorial Stadium. I was a little tyke, so I'm not sure if he had a name, or what his deal was. I also remember he appeared and was cheered at the first Gopher game in the Metrodome. If anyone else is old enough to recall this strange memento, feel free to fill me in on the whole story.

For those who have no idea, it was a genuine mounted rabbit posed to stand on a little board. He was decked out with sunglasses and regalia befitting a Gopher pseudo-mascot. He was totally unofficial. My impression was some superfan or maybe some frat was responsible for bringing him. Some fan would hold him up in the stands and the students would cheer him. I remember one very snowy game day the rabbit was the target of lots of snowballs each time he was hoisted. And sitting near him my family and me got pelted all game long. Good times.

Maybe the rabbit will make a nostalgic appearance at the new stadium?

Post your sec/seat number at TCF and I can pelt you with snowballs, in an effort to relive the days of yore.
