RUNNING BACKS

Minnesota has enjoyed a couple plug-and-play situations this season in its backfield. Donnell Kirkwood, the starter out of preseason practice, suffered a sprained ankle in the third quarter of the Gophers’ opener and has just 48 carries on the season.

That’s partially because Rodrick Williams took over and proved fairly capable over the next five games. But when he went down, Minnesota inserted David Cobb into the lineup and he did even better.

Cobb has rushed for 1,111 yards and seven touchdowns, collecting 5.1 yards per carry. He figures to be a central figure of Minnesota’s offense on Friday.

Go Gophers!!

In the comments section, a person posted P Nelson is listed as "questionable" on the depth chart for the bowl game with "an undisclosed injury"??????? Anything to that?

I'm not sure they even released any kind of depth chart yet for the bowl game. Doesn't it usually come out only a day or two before the game?

I don't have the link but both Pioneer Press & the Star Tribune quoted the Gophers saying that Nelson hasn't missed any bowl practices and is ready to go.
