Jarvis Johnson, Henry Ellenson and Alex Illikainen would all be fantastic, especially in Pitino's system.

A lightning quick, explosive play-making PG (see Peyton Silva)and two talented big men that can get up and down the court. Pitino certainly has a huge opportunity with the local talent base.

I've read that Pitino has been in contact with Illikainen, but any word on if he has contacted Johnson or Ellenson?

FWIW all are Rival 4 stars, with Ellenson being ranked 29th overall.

Someone mentioned in a different thread that Ben Johnson had been recruiting Illikainen for Nebraska, so hopefully there's a good relationship there already and Pitino can close the deal. I haven't heard anything about the other two, but of course we have Wally here so I'm sure Henry is still a possibility.

I know NEBRASKA has been recruiting Illikainen, but I can't say for sure if JOHNSON has been.

GopherHole tweets today:

"#Gophers Richard Pitino continued his busy recruiting schedule, adding meetings with @Bigjarv12 (DeLaSalle) and @JakeWright_20 (Hopkins)."

"#Gophers Richard Pitino will meet with big time sophomore recruit @AIllikainen_25 today."

Go Gophers!!

isn't amir coffey a 2015? if so, he may be the best of the bunch.

Amir Coffey is 2016. Yes he is really talented, but has tons of room for development. (natural for a ninth grader)

Henry Ellenson is going to be a beast...Kris Humpheries type player. More than likely, he will have the option to play anywhere he wants when its all done. Coach P needs to be working this one hard now.

I think Alex Illikanen will be the best of this group and is the one I am most hopeful we are able to land.

According to Rivals, Tubby never offered Jarvis a schollie. If this is true, my disdain for Tubby just grows everyday. I realize Pitino has not accomplished anything yet, but my perception is that he has done more on the recruiting trail in one week than Tubby did in 6 years.

Seriously...is that what you're going with?

My perception is you're a drama queen.

Dont have to be a d-bag because your opinion differs than burtons. Thank you for adding nothing to this thread.

I think you overreacted way more than howieramone did. It's not like he called him an a-hole or anything. I think Burton's comments were a little over the top as well.

Okay, maybe my comment was a little extreme (6 years). I think it drowned out the original point of my message, which is why was Jarvis never offered a schollie by Tubby? Does anyone have any info on this?

That's my perception as well.

He already had two scholarships out there for 2015 when he was a freshman. He probably would have offered him this spring/summer.

I'm not sure why Tubby hadn't offered him, Rivals lists him as a 4 star, but Iowa State is his only power conference offer, also has an offer from Creighton, and then some offers from a handful of mid-majors. For being a 4 star he hasn't gotten many offers from high-major programs, but does have interest from Purdue, Wisconsin, and Gonzaga. So it's not like Tubby was the only high major coach who hadn't offered him.

True. But considering that we're the instate school, we should be in on our hometown kids ahead of any outstate school.

He doesn't have an offer, but he's also visited Michigan.

He's also in the same class as Vaughn, Tyus and Travis and with Ellis and Foster leaving there will now be more scholarships available in this class, combine with J.P stock rising could be the reason Pitino is offering. More scholly's to work with.

I think the point is there may be a reason teams are waiting to offer. You don't offer a recruit if you're not sure you even want him, regardless if he's an instate guy or not.

Now, first of all I am not going to make any accusations here, but we do need to realize the importance of any and all recruits and their academics. Food for thought, is all.

Dr. Don, he attends a Catholic school. Don't the nuns still mess with them if they don't do their homework?

Interesting to see he plans to talk to Jake Wright. The kid can definitely shoot the ball, and has decent size and skill, but I never thought of him as a B1G player.

I was confused as well as I'd never heard of him mentioned before.

But when checking his rivals page, interest from Arizona, Northwestern, Penn State, and Wisconsin. Maybe not a bad pick up.
