I see that we now have four of the five offensive line starters from the last few games coming back next year. We ran the ball really well the last few games. Can someone remind me what changes we made throughout the season on the offensive line?

Yes please. An update on our offensive line for next year would be appreciated. How we lookin?

I believe the big change was personnel related as Nelson was in for Marshal.

With the changes to the offensive coaching staff, I wonder if the OL play scheme will change. Maybe more pulling mixed in with RPO. With Drake here, we probably can't go full RPO as he likes the pro-style setup. We've seen that, as of now, we haven't been able to outmuscle much of our competition.

Off the top of my head, I believe that if you review the bowl game and check DT's touchdown run, you'll see that Tony Nelson was at right guard and Nathan Roy was at right tackle. This was probably some sort of jumbo package, as Roy plays left tackle predominantly.

In any event, Nelson was plugged in at right guard the last three regular season games, and started against Wisconsin.

Things were better, but I’m not sure we ran the ball really well this is Minnesota and wow we’ve never reached the promised land of college football but we have almost always been able to run the shit out of the ball. I think the biggest issue for last year was we completely whiffed on 74 and 73 and we must’ve paid them enough NIL money that we felt like they needed to play. When Nelson came in things got a lot better. Still a ways to go and I hope we bring in someone to play right tackle who can be at least at an honorable mention all conference level. I would think then that will be fine.

For next year, I’m hoping they upgrade at 2 spots. In addition to RT, I’m not sure the C or RG are contributors on what needs to be an upper level B1G OL.

I think the left guard Johnson falls into that category too, but with all the starts he has under his belt I’m really optimistic that in his senior year he’s gonna take a huge step up. It just seems like I see him blocking air too often.

you’re my guy but to say we ran the ball really well the last few games at least in my opinion is not true. The last 4 games we averaged like 85 yards a game…

Correct. That's why I said the last two games where Darius went over 100 yd each game. In the last two games, there were actually running lanes as well.

We were far from good, but it definitely seemed the last couple games. We played better on the offensive line. I could very well be mistaken though.

and power I also think the diversity of talent we are putting together at RB for 2026, plus Mo as their coach, will improve the OL!

I think having a healthy DT was a big difference too. If he can be healthy and our line improves he’s a 1500 yards from scrimmage player IMO

I'm nervous because nobody (other than Nelson late) even got a chance with the right side being as bad as it was. We have a recent history of starting young guys, any chance Trout starts at right tackle?

Also a reminder that a big upgrade to an offensive line can simply be bringing everyone back. These are still growing young men. It’s amazing the development that can be seen in College (still in NFL, but not as great a degree).
Absolutely. We have also seen "backups" become starters year after year, when getting the opportunity.

Seems like the weight room is needed for the returners. The short yardage push was non-existent, I hated those 9 yard pass completions. The lack of push up front, really shows up on short yardage.

I know, I know…..redundant but, a pet peeve.

Yep, O-Line is definitely a position where age and experience is key. Haviing a number of starters back who are a year older, stronger, and have been able to spend a lot of practice time working together is a good thing.
