Thanks

Meaning, this holds:

It’s nothing more than a failing of capitalism. When media is driven by profiteering on behalf of investors, they’ll focus mostly on what gets clicks.

As I already said, the people showing up in ER's with overdoses and calling poison control are not the ones who went to their doctors and got a prescription. They're the ones who went down to Tractor Supply and got horse de-wormer because some idiot on Facebook told them to. And there are apparently quite a lot of them.

The hack you seek is in the mirror.

Oh boy, another Howie approved source bites the dust. it was a really good story Howie. We can see why you fell for it again.

Just thought i would take a moment to remind all the evil that is china. Hopefully we can all agree on that.

China didnt shut down travel from their country, didnt cooperate with WHO, and blamed italy and america for starting the china virus.

Just annoys me because china is somehow skating by on this. Why is that? Would Israel receive a pass in such a situation?

Then the uighurs. How is it this day and age a country can skate on putting a million people in reeducation camps?

Great, what do you want to do about it? If we really wanted to be able to have influence on China, then maybe we shouldn't have intentionally opened them up to massive global trade, just to gain a cheap labor market, that made them into the superpower they have become; while becoming indebted $TRILLIONS to Chinese investors. The genesis of China as a superpower can probably be traced straight to Republican Party political attitudes and policies of the 80s/90s/00s, i.e., Reaganism and the demands of the free traders; while the demise of American manufacturing is largely traceable to the same.

While blaming Republicans from the 1980's may, or may not be legitimate, it certainly doesn't help deal with the threat that China is in 2021. The way you deal with China is you hurt them financially, and you stop being politically correct. China can not survive without access to the US consumer market, so you cut them off, or make them pay for it. It's that simple. Trump had the right idea. His sanctions, incentives to corporations to move manufacturing out of China, etc. Led to China having virtually zero new investment in Trump's four years, their stock market crashing, and their currency collapsing.

Also notable during the Trump Admin were the dozens of Chinese spies that were caught stealing secrets from our science labs, and the Chinese spies embedded with high ranking Democrats Feinsten & Swalwell were exposed.

with this proviso - China is a huge market for US farmers. If we "go after" China, it could have very negative implications for farm exports. so trade negotiations with China have to walk a fine line or the US could hurt their own farmers as much as they hurt Chinese companies.

FWIW - no report Monday from MN Dept of Health due to holiday. don't know if Tuesday's report will be one day's worth of data or a big data dump for the entire weekend. TBD.

Oh yeah, no doubt both parties bear guilt for the past. Not my point.

Point is why is china today skating on their egregious behavior regarding a global pandemic that caused millions of deaths? Skating on million of muslims in reeducation camp? Why do you think that is happening?

A couple of things: China is doing wrong. But they are not the only wrong. Additionally, I go back to my original statement: Great, what do you want to do about it? We no longer have essentially any power over them.

We have pushed ourselves out of power in the Eastern world in the name of short-term selfishness.

I would like to see us at least attempt to punish china economically. Maybe attempt to put together a coalition of developed countries to do so. Something.

At the very least would like our media to advance this subject. Seems like media role should be to speak truth to power and this is a very consequential truth.

Truth is that nothing will be done at all. Would be very different if israel, japan, or taiwan was such an irresponsible actor. China is somehow coming out of this as heroic.

You hit the nail on the head though, left doesnt see china as any worse than america.

Maybe if battling China was our only problem, we could try to do this. But we have a pandemic ravaging us, and RW fascism rising strongly across the Western world, threatening the free world itself. You want to fight against China or Russia while damaged and divided and economically indebted? Good luck. There is a reason Russia puts out so much divisive misinformation across our easy access points. It works, to our loss and their gain.

Considering the competition this is quite the accomplishment.

Would u agree that china is the second most evil country in the world? After N Korea. (Check out their social credit system - really scary stuff.)

Trump proved during his term, that with what we profit from instituting America-first trade policies with China overall, we can subsidize US farmers for any losses to China, and still come out way ahead economically, but more importantly we weaken China.

The US generates, grows and manufactures virtually everything we need here in the US. China however, can not exist without the US consumer market. China can not even feed themselves. It's not a 50/50 relationship. They need us waaaaaaaaay more than we need them.

Nothing like a little good old fashioned socialism to help out American farmers. Is that you AOC?

Where do you come up with this nonsense? China literally can not exist without the US consumer market. Their entire country would collapse without access to it. Our consumer base is the foundation that everything in China is built upon. The US on the other hand could exist just fine without China. It's really pretty simple. We have all the power, they have none, other than being able to purchase/control US politicians/media to always give advantage to China.

Agree on that? No. Not even close. China is a problem. There are numerous far worse countries in the world (e.g., Afghanistan, Pakistan, Russia, some of the African and South American and Middle Eastern countries, etc.). They just happen to be the main geopolitical foe of ours right now, which magnifies their problems.

Not sure. Just seems like an attempt should be made at least to make china pay a price. As is china is somehow coming across as heroic.

Would think industrialized nations should be able to come together to do something economically. May hurt some industries to potentially lose the chinese market, but is a much larger risk to let such an evil nation continue along so happily being able to call the shots.

How can there be a worse country than unleashing a global pandemic on the world, million muslims in reeducation camps, constantly threatening a democracy on its coast, determining citizens' college/career/travel thru points gained thru a social credit system, building their economy thru stealing work of others.

What countries are worse? And u better not say america.
