has been cut off from the search, and they are angry my friends, like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli.
 

You were moderately entertaining yesterday. Going to have to give us something more than coy references or platitudes to continue to be entertaining.
 

does this mean the search isn't going well? Is the U really being turned down by everyone like KFAN reported? Ugh. Even with up to 3 million they're being turned down, that's if the 3 million is true. I wonder what the real story is.
 


I get the feeling that rumors start on this board, get passed around until eventually they reach the media as being from a "trusted source", and then they get posted back on Gopherhole.

This is true. As such, I have a gut feeling about the coach who was a 'surprise.' Big Game Bob Stoops. Like Ten Loss Tubby, he may be feeling a bit unloved in Oklahoma these days. It's two straight sub-par years, and despite another Big XII Championship game appearance, he may have had enough. Keep it in the back of your mind.
 

I think Crazy Joe is right. The sheer amount of seemingly random (because it's all so contradictory) speculation on the parts of many members of the media indicates to me that maybe nobody has an actual scoop or anything resembling the actual story.

Let's see:
-Maturi was pissed about the firing being leaked prior to the game at Purdue and probably has gone to great lengths to ensure no leaks this time around.
-Maturi and Mona seem to be the only people directly involved in the search from the U of M side.
-Dozens of contradictory tweets, "leaks", and other rumors have floated around in the last few days.
-The interim coach has even stated that many of the names being mentioned are a smoke screen (which indicates to me that there's a deliberate attempt to divert attention away from the actual target).

I'm anxiously awaiting some news and my obsession with this search is becoming borderline pathological. The sad part is that nobody seems to know anything of great substance.
 

"They" also can't like that the U is announcing via social media. That way everyone knows at the same time (us and them) and none of them gets the scoop.

That's all true; now add to that guys like Barrerio and Gaard who have no facts or reliable contacts, passing off their failings as pulling one over "on the rubes".

Same thing a kid does when he really wants something and doesn't get it. He pretends it was a joke all along.

When I start scouring the Interwebz for zany pictures and then using them to histrionically respond to one poster who criticized me a month ago, you'll have a salient point.

Crazy Joe could very well be right and have an inside source. But he's been teasing us with his inside knowledge for several weeks now. I'm just looking for more substance and less teasing. Don't really think that's out of line.
 

I'd rather listen to Crazy Joe's oblique references than the Tweeting Media, who make things up and pretend they're true, a la Schmidt yesterday. If they'd spend less time on their Tweet Deck and more time actually reporting, they might have some credibility.

Yeah, that's very true. Even if they're pure BS, they get you thinking and some good conversations started. When the Fedora debacle was getting started, I was thinking Crazy Joe could be the new Miss Cleo.

Exactly they get you thinking and speculating. He's not giving anything out as fact and besides what else to we have to do until the announcement :)
 

This could be understood 2 ways

1. The media has destroyed the possibility of potential candidates coming
2. This is a way for Crazy Joe to continue to string people along without saying anything...

Methinks the later.

I thought of a third thing. The media is making the search seem worse than it is because they are mad they aren't being kept in the loop.

For all we know - Maturi has one heck of an ace up his sleeve signed and ready to go.
 

for all i know CJD was/is neinas...well actually CN's evil taunting schizo personality that comes out when his head starts to hurt from all the calls due to high CFB coaching turnover

i find the cjd posts entertaining

That's possible assuming he's waiting for his selection to finish the regular season schedule. The following schools with coaches of interest have one game remaining:

Arizona, NIU, Rutgers, Boise St., Oregon St., UConn, and Navy
 

The media has been pretty wrong about the search so far. They're grasping at straws and no doubt the usual suspects want to jump all over Maturi and ridicule the U football team.
