per the Marysville Advocate:
A 40-17 rout over Illinois Oct. 29 made Minnesota bowl eligible for the fifth straight year, something junior Garrison Wright is looking forward to later this year.
Wright, a Marysville High School graduate, arrived in Minnesota after playing for Butler County Community College. He’s a 6-foot-4 320-pound offensive lineman who is focused on helping the Gophers the best way he can. For the Gophers that meant moving from guard to tackle and from the left side to the right.
“Garrison has been a tremendous asset to the team and to the line,” said Bart Miller, the Gophers’ offensive line coach. “That unit needed some toughness, some physicality, and he brought that. He has a level of maturity having never played at this level before coming from junior college and just being one of the older guys.”
Wright has handled each move he’s made well. In his three seasons at Butler Community College, the first year as a redshirt, he helped lead the Grizzlies to a 9-2 record and No. 5 ranking.
“It fits well,” he said. “I’m enjoying playing a different position.”
