Winless on the road in the Big Ten: 0-8 in 1999-00, Monson's first season.

.500 or better on the road in the Big Ten: 4-4 in 2004-05, Monson's NCAA Tournament season.

Better than .500 on the road in the Big Ten: 7-2 in 1996-97, Clem's Final Four season.

Gopher's got absolutely jobbed on the road at Illinois in 1996-97, still the worst officiated game I've witnessed.

The road record is certainly abysmal and has been for a long time. The more damning stat to me is that Gophers haven't had a winning B1G season (!) since Monson's tournament team. As bad as they've been on the road, they've rarely been very good at home in the last decade either. Back to your point on the road records though, it doesn't seem like we've had a group that expected to win on the road in a long, long time. I was so encouraged by how Pitino's group played on the road in East Lansing last year, but that combination of poise/toughness/execution hasn't been shown frequently.

I remember before the big10 season - Pitino saying that we must protect our home court and maybe steal some road victories! That seems to be setting up a mood that we cant win on the road. We should be able to win any game not just at home.

Thought they got jobbed worse at Wisconsin later that same season. Multiple late-game calls that did us in.

i will digress because I loved that team, but other than the refs, the Gophers would have won that game but for Russ having to play major minutes because Charles Thomas was out. I'm not going to be Puritan Polly on the team because I saw the key games live. They would have made the title game if Eric wasn't injured.

Yes, E Harris played on one leg and pure guts against KY. Oh for some guts on this year's edition.

Is there a course you can take at the University called Guts 101???

Eric sprained his shoulder in the Clemson Sweet 16 game. So while he may have been figuratively playing on one leg, he was literally playing with one arm (and a s**tload of guts), which is a real detriment for your point guard and lockdown defender.
