Why did we not simply do this for the last play in regulation?

Have Rodney *START* near the block in the lane. Have everyone else stand up at the top of the key (so that Rodney is single-covered). Lob the ball up high. Have Rodney jump, catch it and try to throw it down. Ideally he slams it. 2nd best, he gets fouled.

Instead, we start him on the free-throw line and have him run down only to get blocked out of position.

the last play in regulation worked just fine. Sometimes shots don't fall.

I don't think the inbound passer had the angle to get it that close to the hoop. The backboard was in the way. We got about as good of a look at the end as you could expect.

You're right. A fall-away 10-footer is a much higher percentage shot than a 2-foot dunk.

1. It wasn't a fall-away.
2. If drawing up an alley-oop play is so easy, why doesn't every team always do that?
3. Like I said, there wasn't a very good angle for the in bound passer anyways. Tough to make a pass with the backboard in the way.

Why don't we just lob it up to Rodney every possession. He'd have 100 points and we'd win by 50 every game. Tubby is an idiot!!!!

So we are criticizing a clean look at the basket with 1 second left. Some folks should just move on until they can get their heads on straight.

Bah. You guys have been conditioned into simply being happy to get a shot off at all...

On another note, that alley-oop from EE to Rodney was sveet.

And you have clearly conditioned yourself to ignore all levels of actual criticism on your bad ideas.

The much more likely outcome of an attempted alley-oop is Michigan scoring when the lob is overthrown, clock doesn't start until the ball is touched, and michigan has an easy lay-up to win the game.

I liked the play. Just didn't hit the shot, but it gave them a pretty good opportunity.

I would rather complain about the three pointer by Michigan in regulation.

I would rather complain about the three pointer by Michigan in regulation.

I was watching the game, and when Michigan got the ball back down 3 with about :20 left, the first thing I thought was - give the foul right away, put them on the FT line, and don't give them the chance to hit a 3 and tie the game. There were 8 fouls on the Gophs, so it would have been a 1-and-1. If you give the foul, even if they make both FT, the Gophs get the ball back up 1 with time running down.

Admittedly, that would be unconventional - but I would rather have a coach who is willing to think outside the box, as opposed to following the conventional wisdom, and giving Michigan the opportunity to run down the clock and hit a 3 to tie.

As far as the Gophers final possession in regulation, the less said the better. (Why can't this team run a stinkin' play and get somebody a decent look..............?)

Seems like if it were so simple to get a lob for a dunk on an inbounds play that'd be a good strategy everytime wouldn't? Why limit yourself to the end of the game?

That was no doubt the killer!

Kaupa....good play, he missed the shot. Get your golf clubs out of storage it is friken 60 degrees.

That was no doubt the killer!

It was a guy who had no points up till then and 4 fouls. Let that hack take the shot every time. Burke and Hardaway had nothing.. It just sucks he hit it...
