The kid didn't know: Cam Newton gets official day in state, declared by AL Gov

This is disgusting. And not just because of his cheating.

Athletes (with a few exceptions) are not important enough in the grand scheme of things to have days named after them.

In Minnesota, no they shouldn't. However, we are talking about Alabama here so it sounds about right. They don't care about his cheating, they care about his ability to win games.

Seems like a bad idea in a state with two rival D-1 programs to go around naming days for players. For every Auburn fan who appreciates the gesture, there's bound to be a Bama fan who thinks the governor's a dumbass.

They did it for Mark Ingram last year. I have no problem with it. Think of the pride/excitement if the Gophers were playing for the National Championship.

I have zero problem with it. If they did it last year for Ingram, in the year that he won the Heisman, why not for Newton in the year he won?

I won't complain when we do it here next year when MG wins it.

I threw a laptop out the window today in honor of Cam Newton Day.

I didn't have a test but if I did I would have had someone else do it.

The wife was furious about this yesterday. Apparently many Alabama fans felt the same as you couldn't make it six feet into superwalmart without being surrounded by people covered in crimson.
