The Gophers need five regular season wins to make the NCAA Tournament

vs. Michigan
vs. Penn St.
@Iowa
@NW
vs. MSU
vs. Illinois

That was easy.

Oh, I named 6? Well you can pick 5 of those 6.

Judging by the last two games, what makes you think the Gophers can even win three of the mentioned contests?

Beating Penn State. This is the same Penn State team that basically had PURDUE beaten on the road. This is the same Penn State team that beat Wisconsin and beat Indiana AT Indiana. They also almost beat No. 1 Ohio State and defeated down Michigan State. I don't wanna hear this crap about the Lions losing to Maine either, that was a completely different team.

Beating Iowa AT Iowa. Just ask Michigan State how that goes.

At Northwestern. That's a joke, right?

Home against Michigan State. Yes, the Spartans are down right now, but remember, it's Michigan State. The Spartans can still beat any team on any day. Besides, Minnesota will probably get intimidated enough to lose.

Home against Illinois. No, Minnesota will likely lose this game...badly. Illinois can match Minnesota's only strength on the blocks.

Why'd you ask if you had all the answers?

A few hours ago you'd have listed Indiana and said 5 of 7.

This team has possiblly the worst guard play in the Big 10. There isn't a 'guaranteed' win on that list.

I will name them. here are the 5 wins i see happening.

Ohio State (Yes number 1 is going down on Sunday)
Penn State
Michigan State
Michigan
Illinois

I also think we will win at Iowa and lose at Northwestern.

I think we'll still make the tournament, but it's frustrating to think that with Nolen we probably would have had a decent shot at a top 3 spot in the league and a 4 or 5 seed in the NCAA tournament. Instead we are looking at potentially sweating it out again on Selection Sunday.

What we have learned about this team:

They can beat anybody
They can lose to anybody
They like to keep it close regardless of opponent quality

I think they can get 5 - but after tonight's debacle all bets are off.

Are you really posting this after your thread about predicting a loss at Northwestern just a week ago? I guess maybe that's a good thing...

So basically its the worst case scenario for the Gophers and the best case scenario for whoever we're playing?

I'm of the opinion 4 more in the regular season will likely be enough for the NCAA, but if it's 5 you think we need I'd guess:

Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State & Penn State at home + we'll smell out a road win somewhere, most likely Iowa City or Evanston.

I have to admit, minus Al I have a hard time seeing this team win 4-5 more games. Somehow the Gophers' need to protect their homecourt the rest of the way because I wouldn't count on winning any more road games (maybe 1) the rest of the season.

Beating OSU would certainly cure a lot of ills, but I think it's pretty crucial that the Gophers split this 2-game homestand. We need to beat OSU or Illinois or we'll really be facing an uphill climb the rest of the way.

Beat the Buckeyes. Sullinger was crying about how physical it was after the last game, so try it again. Our big guys need to beat the he*l out of him as much as possible.

4 more wins

4 more wins and they are in the Big Dance.... 20 wins - 9-9 in the Conf not even a question

which team?

It depends on which Gophers show up at tip off.

The team that showed up yesterday will be hard pressed to win 4 of the final 8.

IMHO.

Hopefully "that" team does NOT show up again.

Certainly we are struggling without Al. But we had a decent chance to win a game in a difficult venue, when we shot poorly both from the field and at the line and had several unforced turnovers. I don't think it's panic city yet. Indiana is no prize, but they're not the worst team we've played this year and that building is still a tough place to play in, even when it's taken downa notch by the weather.
