We were decimated by injuries last year. I think we have enough talent where if we stay healthy the rest will take care of itself.

Get better as the season goes along.

A sign of improvement would be defeating upstart Brohm’s Purdue or failing that Iowa. Finish with 6-7 wins. Avoid historically bad losses. Improve S&P+ to top 50 in preparation for a 2019 run. Signs of improvement vs the run, and better offensive production.

A bowl game and preferably a win or competitive loss is said bowl is necessary.

-bowl game
-show signs of offense that we're not doomed to anemic offense
-better run defense
-no scandals

I'd say get bowl eligible with 6 to 7 wins, get a victory over a rival and win the bowl game.
