Have not seen one of these yet so I'll toss it out there.

Good
Nelson - Didn't have a great game and made some mistakes but played well for a true freshman in his first game on the road
Carter - Played a very strong game as he was alone 1 on 1 on many of those pass plays so if he messes up it is 6 points for Wisconsin. Nice to see him playing up to his potential finally.

Bad
Offense - Injuries, Youth, whatever we just can't move the ball
Special Teams - Eldred started good but shanked some late. Kick return units are non-existent at this point. Missed extra point and the onside kick which was the right call was poorly executed as we had no shot at the recovery.

Ugly
Hmmm....the defense, specifically the run defense. Good god that was just terrible to give up that many runs right up the middle. Wells who played great early in the year was awful today but it definitely was not all on him.

You mentioned Carter in the good. I would list Carter's pass defense as good. But on the run, he gave no effort to fight through blocks. Obviously missing an extra point is pretty disgusting.

Majority of the big runs went right up the middle where the linebackers and safeties should make plays not the cornerbacks. Claeys never adjusted for the runs up the middle.

Good:

Nelson - Looks like he is our QB of the future. Hit crossing routes that neither Shortell nor Gray hit consistently. Seems to have confidence in every throw that he makes, unlike our other QB's who seem more hesitent and sometimes they play to not make mistakes. Good velocity and confidence from a freshmand QB in a hostile environment, very unlike Shortell, 58-0 against Michigan, who looked very lost.

Michael Carter - Boy are we going to miss him next year. This guy really came to play this year. He has been what he should have been his entire time here. A potential shutdown corner. It is absolutely scary to think of how good he could be if his head had been on straight the entire time.

WR - IMO. Continues to be the most surprising group, other than the secondary, on this entire team. Not as many glaring errors and dropped passes as in previous years, which is a great sign!

Sacks/Pass Rush - 1st half, the pass rush was there and we were getting some good push on pass plays. 2nd half, not so much, but that category of the stat sheet looks good.

Bad

Snapping the football - Not as prevalent this game as Northwestern, but it seems we consistently have low or missed timed snaps every game. And, it isn't usually just one, it is a handful and always costs a play or two or more in some games. Good teams shouldn't do that.

Punting/Kicking Game - I have no idea what to say. Mostly good, but we always have that one, bad punt, that costs us field position at a critical time in the game. It is so incredibly frustrating that we just can not be consistent in punting the football. Missed FG that should have been good, I thought. Oh, and a missed XP followed by another, CLOSE, XP?! UGH.

UGLY - Only three words here.

RUN DEFENSE

TACKLING.

Is Stoudermire a product of this team giving up so many points over the years or is he an elite returner? With Maye's quickness why not give him a chance?

I think the former. He has some speed and a few moves, but some really stupid decisions. Also, a lot of shots at the return and no touchdown.

3rd and 11, score 24-13, Gophers give up a 1st down rushing. That was the nail in the coffin, and guys had shots at him. 4th qtr, 3rd and 11, 12, and 7 and Wisconsin converted all 3 with runs.

Regardless what Sid writes in his column every week, Mike Rallis is the worst starting linebacker in the Big Ten. Number 2, is Hill.

Want to revamp our defense? Start there - Linebacker.

And the sad thing is - these guys are still playing, which tells me we have NOTHING behind them worth playing.

Then get your ass out there and show them how to do it. God, you people are sickening.

It must be said - you are an absolute moron. Your dog doesn't like you.

Most has been said already but...

Good
Nelson played pretty well for his first start. Certainly not great, but not bad. He looked pretty confident. He stared down the receiver on the second INT though.

Glad to see Brandon Green make some plays. Feel bad for him not being able to get healthy.

Pass rush was solid, so was the pass coverage. DB's were left on an island most of the game and held their own.

Bad

Did all of our RBs get hurt or something? We didn't even try to use them after the first quarter.

Ugly

Run defense. The fact that we played with 8 in the box all game and still couldn't stop them is just bad. Our LBs are easily the worst part of our defense. Let's hope we can find a Juco or two.

Special Teams: Has Hawthorne been that bad to not even give him a shot? Wettstein has been horrible. We had a great shot to recover the onside if he actually kicked it up the middle.
