Ryan Burns’s take (see first comment below),

Most of the points have already been discussed on GH threads this week, but in his summary he points out another reason why Nebraska’s offense scores so much: its offense enjoys one of the best average starting field positions in the league.

Burns didn’t reveal where the Gophers stand in this crucial but rarely discussed stat. But it seems that poor starting field position is a hallmark of PJ’s offenses. Whether it is lack of turnovers, a paucity of explosive plays, inability to flip the field on punts, whatever—the Gophers offense seems to spend sometimes the entire game starting deep in opposition territory. Worth watching this dynamic on Friday.

The Burns bobos are beginning to annoy me. He is too close to the team, talks them up in preseason, and grows increasingly depressed throughout the season as we flounder. Loves to dig around in the stats for answers, rightfully blames special teams, and predicts us to lose the next game. What a sad, pathetic podcaster he is. Sell some hope! Raiola is overrated! We have had a couple of stinkers so far this season but our potential is much greater. PJ usually gets the team riled up for games and homefield advantage is worth a lot. RTBSUMGG!!
