It seems bleak, but winning are remaining home games and taking 1 of 2 on the road will still probably get us in the tourney. We still have the Big Ten Tourney to do some work as well. Until the door is completely closed I refuse to give up. One of the beauties of the NCAA format is it's never closed because of the automatic big in the conference tournament. There is still time to figure things out.

I have got to hand it to you.

You have a lot of heart.

A win over Wisconsin would be huge and a good way to get some confidence and momentum. Man this is depressing...

Although what we say here in this board hardly matters, and I could not care less about good fan/bad fan stuff, it is just that I like the mentality of yours. The type of guy I wanna go to war with. Disappointing was the outcome, nonetheless. Good nite.

Sure if we win all our games we are in but can you honestly say that you think we will win more than 3 games the rest of the year? We are poorly coached offensively and lose games we should win...epic choke job

Who cares if YOU haven't given up. You don't play the games. The team appears to have given up, which is all that matters....

Love the optimism man! I just don't see it happening. If we win 18 games it will be a success.

I'll do you one better. If the Gophers win all the rest of their games, they are national champs.

I admire your optimism sir, and this is coming from a Cubs fan whose is convinced every spring that the upcoming season is the one we finally win it all.

Although they didn't do a good job of putting the game away, I didn't get the feeling that they had given up. I actually recall the team hustling down the floor each time and finding a way to score to continue to prolong the game. Devoe didn't look like he gave up to me. If Northwestern hadn't made every one of their free throws in overtime we would have won that game.

The bottom line is Northwestern was a better team and I love optimism but lets face it---the NCAA door shut when Royce and mbwkeee were not allowed to play. The Gophers are ONE scorer and rebounder away from being a solid contender.

Yes, that fateful press conference in which Tubby announced the suspensions, was the turning point of the season. Little did many realize at that time was that Trevor and Royce would be gone for the entire season. When Al got suspended it was the nail in the coffin.
Now its just going through the motions til the season is over. I still watch the team, but its mostly to see what kind of players we'll have next year, rather than expecting the team to do anything. I will miss Damian but one returning player I like is Ralph. If we can somehow get Al, Royce and Trevor back and land Cory or at least three of them next year, then I can get my hopes back up. If not, we'll probably be a Monsonesque team next year and I expect Tubby will be looking to bolt on the next good opportunity he has.

For those wanting to retain hope:

If we win out to go 20-10, 11-7 and are the #5 seed in the BTT, we are in.

If we win out and are the #6 seed, we need to win one game in the BTT.

If we go 5-1, to end up 19-11, 10-8, we will need to win 2 games in the BTT and then cross our fingers.

If we go 4-2 to end up 18-12, 9-9, we need to win at least 2 BTT tournament games, to have even a little hope. But realistically we need to win 3. That would put us in the Championship game at 21-12, 12-9. That's a semi-decent resume onto itself. Also, Big 10 final is the last game on Selection Sunday. The Committee hates having to keep 2 brackets and prefers to start finalizing as soon as the early games are done. Therefore, there's a decent chance they'd just put us in win or lose just to avoid the hassle.

Anything less then a 4-2 finish requires us to win the BTT.
