per Bruce:

Minnesota’s Tanner Morgan: One of the most improved quarterbacks in college football last season, the Kentucky native threw for 3,253 yards while completing 66 percent of his passes and had a 30-7 TD-INT ratio.

Go Gophers!!

One of the biggest keys to the Gophers upcoming season will be getting production from the #2 and #3 receivers as Bateman will be faced with double and triple team coverage all year. Guys like Autman-Bell and Douglas need to get open to give Morgan some options and keep opposing defenses honest. Autman-Bell in particular should have a big year.

Mel Kiper has him at #5, which would probably be round 2? I think Tanner would take that.

I have to admit I'm surprised to see Lance up that high. We're talking about a guy who has played 1 season of FCS-level football - and ran more than he passed in some games.

but - I have to give Lance credit. He has improved a ton since HS. He was good at Marshall, but I don't remember anyone at that time saying "this guy is going to the NFL." He was a good HS QB at a decent program. His SR year in HS, they won their Section title and lost in the State Quarter-Finals.

In that sense, Morgan will be easier for pro teams to evaluate, because his game translates much more easily to the NFL. Lance will need to show he can be more of a pocket passer and less of a run-first, pass-second type of QB. Granted, neither one of them has to come out next year.
