My guess was 5-7 for the year; honestly, how many of you thought it would be 7-2 after nine games?

Or after the Michigan game for that matter.

We've gone from "0 conference wins" to "Gator Bowl" talk... simply amazing.

in my opinion after this game the gophers have officially made progress, since this is at least one more win then last year, i actually predicted an 8 win regular season but i am usually one of the more optimistic/unrealistic gopherholers, i predicted Iowa, IU, and the 4 non con games as almost guarantee wins, wisconsin, MSU, Penn State as 50/50 toss ups and Nebraska, Northwestern, Michigan as almost guarantee losses, right about the 4 non con games, IU, Michigan, wrong about Northwestern, Nebraska and Iowa so far

I remember all the whine-assing here the night of the Iowa game. :)

Some haven't taken kindly to my comments about how down-trodden this program is. I didn't mean to offend, was only making observations. These three wins as big underdogs, two on the road, and BTN, other national media (even local) talk about how awful the losses were for NW, Neb. & UI, losing to the lowly Gophers. I just watched a clip from Jerry's first year here where he says "if this was a good job, you wouldn't have hired me." lol. This three-week run has been as satisfying as any stretch in my entire time as a sports fan.

Remarkable. From 0-2, with our HC down for the count, to 3-2. That must have been one hell of a by week.

I guessed 8-4 and had us 7-2 at this point. Only got IA and NE mixed up. Just sayin'

I think I had us 7-5 for the year, planning on the 4 OC wins, and two out of the three from Iowa, IU, and PSU, so I guess that would put us at either 6-3 or 7-2 at this point. Let's keep it rolling though. Penn State (aside form a home win against Michigan) has not looked great, and we get them at home. In light of our last three, no reason to think we can't beat Penn State next weekend.

Looking at my "best case scenario" at the start of the year, I was hoping for 6-3 at this point. Regardless of what happens from here on out, this is the most fun I've had following Gophers football, ever.

How about playing meaningful conference games as late as late as November 22nd? If the Gophers win this weekend against PSU, they cannot be eliminated from the division race until, at the earliest, November 22nd - the second to the last week of the season.

7-2 from where I thought we'd be at the start of the season (6-6) is really impressive.

7-2 after the ass whippings against Iowa and Michigan is almost impossible to believe. I'll admit I was one of the people that wondered if we would even win another game. I have no idea how the turnaround was made so quickly, but I'm certainly glad to have been dead wrong.

I feel like we are playing with house money from here on out. The team has met our surpassed all reasonable expectations already and there's a reasonable chance for it to get better! I'm glad the coaches and players are still aiming higher, but no matter what happens the rest of the way, this will be a successful season for the program.

Now let's go beat PSU and keep this fun ride going!

Go Gophers!

I think one more win would be the difference between a "solid" and "good" season. I don't think many of us would be happy if we ended the year with four straight losses, but could probably look at the big picture and see the progress made and revel in getting a big win over Nebraska.

Winning 8 games would be a really impressive accomplishment. Winning 9 games (either a Wisky/Mich St upset or a bowl win) would be a great year. Winning anything more than that probably gets Kill and/or Claeys a statue.

It's become pretty obvious that regardless of how those two games seemed, Minnesota was close to turning the corner. Nelson wasn't ready to come back against Iowa. He's back up to speed. The Michigan game was close through the first half. The defense has learned some things, and the offense has almost become...dare I say...explosive.

Timing is everything. The best thing that this team has learned is to look past adversity and move on. Kill's medical leave might have jump started this process by a few weeks...

I think I had them at 6-6 for the regular season.

It's almost as if Kill is his own worst enemy, because now I want more. I actually expect a win against PSU and hope for 1-1 against MSU and Wisc. All after I thought we'd go 6-6. Unreal.

The season has already been a success. Now we just need to land some decent recruits and keep building.

Ski-U-Mah!

Its already a better season than last year. I think one more regular season win and its a really good year, regardless of that win. I agree with the above post that 4 losses in a row will leave a bad taste in peoples mouths.
IMO, if MN can beat PSU and win a bowl game, finish 9-4 (4-4) I would consider that a great move in the right direction.

All I know is that before the season started I gave my two best buddies each a ticket for their birthday present to sit with me at the Wisconsin game down in s107r7. I'll admit to actually feeling a bit sheepish giving that as a present...an outdoor game in late November that'll probably be meaningless.

Now it's looking like the most important game to that point in the season in the last decade. The Gopher will hopefully have a chance to secure a tie for its best conference record since 1973 and set up a shot at their best season record (a 10-2) since 1941.

Do we win out? Probably not. Is it great to be entertaining the idea of it and the implications of what that could mean on November 3rd? HELL YES!

The B1G is soft, and our non-con is embarrassingly SOFT. I'm not at all surprised with 7-2. I was surprised by how badly the Gophs got embarrassed at Michigan.

Aren't you a peach. Did you watch the MI game? Ridiculous catches by their TE/WRs kept their offense moving. A late pick 6 made the score look far more lopsided than it was.

The 2 worst teams in the B1G (Purdue and Illinois) aren't on our schedule. Yep, we miss OSU, but MSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Northwestern, Wisconsin, and Iowa are extremely respectable teams that play physical ball and have talented athletes. I'm waiting to see how B1G bowl eligible teams do against good competition to verify how "soft" we are this year.
