The 2012 transfer list (so far)

Evan Smotrycz, 6-9, F, Soph., Michigan What happened there?

Might be nice to get this guy too: Trey Zeigler, 6-5, SG, Soph., Central Michigan

Sconnie and iowa state are checking the waiver wire as we speak.

read about the 6 leaving the sf dons. wow

was there always this much action?

as for the gophers, the one that i remember is leo going to 'cuse

Twitter tells me the transfer list this season is exceptionally long and growing by the second.

Wow, I didn't realize Arizona State was falling apart the way they were. Keala King (former top recruit) was kicked off the team in January, followed by Lockett and Chasmur's transfers, their squad is down to six scholarship players (one of whom averages in double figures, slightly over 10 ppg) along with three three-star recruits (according to Scout) arriving next season. Seems to be eerily following the Jeff Capel era in Oklahoma-transcedent player boosts the program quickly (Blake Griffin-James Harden), blue chip, but troubled recruits follow (Willie Warren/Tiny Gallon-Keala King), several players transfer and program falls into disarray. If Sendek survives, it'll be quite amazing.

That's kind of what this is starting to become. I'm not sure how much I like this new form of recruiting. But then again if I could fix just one thing in college sports this would come in about 15th on my list.

First would be getting rid of grey shirting. Nothing makes me more made than the over-signing that goes on, and having kids told the day class starts that they don't have a spot in the school.

I don't think you understand what gray-shirting is.

A) Lots of greyshirts know about it way in advance and it is part of their offer. I don't think you want to get rid of that necessarily and it would be hard to differentiate, although I suppose they could make it part of the NLOI.

B) I guess I don't understand the hand-wringing about the transfers who have graduated. Most JuCo guys went that route because they weren't ready for a college classroom. JuCo guys get to transfer without sitting. Guys who transfer from one NCAA school to the other must have graduated first. Why should the system punish the better students?

Additionally, it's a pretty rare thing. It's not like there are 10 kids every year. There are about 10 examples that anyone can name in the 6 years the rule has existed. Lockett, Russell Wilson, Dayne Crist, Kevin Krueger, Danny O'Brien...

There'll probably be somebody(s) to add from OSU after this weekend. Guys don't like sitting the bench and paying their dues, not after they've been told how great they are for years.

Lots of names

Is this an increase over the years? 300+ division 1 teams and most on the list are from the mid majors.

1 big name i see is Alex Oriakhi, the pf-c from ncaa champion UCONN. Plays a lot like Trevor did his first year here. Took a back seat to freshmen center Drummond, who will probably go pro.

Swopshire from Louisville on this list even though the 'Ville's season isn't finished yet? Hasn't he been playing some?
