That was amateur hour. The staff should be embarrassed.

First.....4th and two from the 35? That's the weak willed type of gameplan that let Purdue back into and almost lost us the Penn State. No balls.

But that is not my biggest gripe.....and I think we still had a solid shot to win at this point. Who calls the plays? Kirk or PJ? The score was 24-10 and we have the ball at the five or six yard line. You have FOUR straight shots to pound that ball in. But no....they got fu*king cute and through the ball twice. I realize that Green got stuffed a little earlier in the game....but he's almost ALWAYS good for at least a couple yards. And running the plays to Johnson. Again no. You throw that up to Bateman.

All of the sudden....24-17. Absolutely idiotic coaching in key moments.

And not that it much matters.....but that 4th and less than 1 at the end of the game.....running a draw out the shotgun. Inside joke or something?

I agree, but I doubt the coaches will learn or change from these mistakes.

I also doubt that they will win the bowl game with Faalele probably out for that game and the other injured guys. I don’t trust the coaches to adjust for that.

They will probably go with what they always have and, with a month of preparation, the other team (probably an SEC with more talent) will take full advantage.

I too would have gone for it rather than punt. Actually, I would have had zero problem trying a field goal there. We had the wind at our backs and our “freshman kicker” isn’t going to get better by standing on the sideline while we punt.

I also agree about the plays to Johnson in the end zone. Now I don’t mind throwing to TJ down there, but if I’m going to do so it is a slant or crossing pattern. If I’m going to run the fade, it is to Bateman all day so he can utilize his height advantage. Doubt I would have run Green. We got very little between the tackles all day.

While I think our game plan could have been better, we lost this game because of our offensive line. We got beat up front, plain and simple. We have to get better there if we want to continue to build off of this season.

Bad take, I understand the anger. Trust me I feel like crying. But this is a bit irrational, and I’ll give you the chance to guess at what parts of your post I find irrational.

I feel your pain. Keep the faith man, we will get to where we all want to be I think in a few more years.
I like your posts, dude. Props. Next time you swing through Indy I'll buy you a beer. And I know...too soon to talk about Indy!! Sorry everyone!

Ha! Well I was headed to Indy. Until the second half of today’s game anyway. You all can have version #782 of the annual Ohio State kicking Wisconsin’s ass next weekend. I’m sure it’ll be so very exciting.

the ironic thing is that people rip WI and Chryst for being 'boring' or predictable. But today, WI was the team that pulled out all the stops with creative play-calling, while the Gophers seemed to play it safe and times and they were actually more predictable.

The Gophers got up on the big stage, and it was a little too big for them. there is something to be said for experience. WI has been there before, and it showed today. The Gophers looked like the new kid that got caught looking at the bright lights.

Yep. I’d be embarrassed by 10-2 at a program that’s won 9 games once since these players great grandparents were in diapers. Hell, it’s easy to win at Minnesota. Thanks for allowing me to laugh my ass off. Embarrassed. The last thing they should be is embarrassed. It’s people like you that are embarrassing. People that don’t have a clue. ??

Fleck's conviction is that you grow out of failure. Embrace it, learn from it, and walk away; don't take it with you. I see a lot of people who are too proud to admit failure and are thereby unable to learn from it; this team and staff are not those people.

Don't get me wrong. I'm still rowing the boat. I just think there were a couple critical errors that sunk the boat in this on. I don't buy that the Gophers couldn't have come out of of that four play mismanagement by playing it vanilla.

Missing on that TD didn't put a nail in the boat.....it dropped a bowling ball through it.

And can we discuss playcalls? I've seen us run some unique stuff....but Wisconsin was doing all sorts of di

Completely agree. They came out with heavy ammo. I've seen Fleck run some cool plays..... but he was ultra conservative to a fault. The Badgers had plenty of unique stuff to throw at us. We looked like we compied the Bucs offensive playbook from Madden 95.

Also....that first second half drive. We moved the ball to the 50 before third and ten. What do you do there? Fleck and co seemed content with handing the ball off the Ibriham for a yard. Why? Bomb that sucker down field to one of your playmakers and.maybe you come up with something. If it gets picked.....big whoop. We were going to punt anyways.

Look....I'm still growing the boat and I'm happy with this season....but there were so many bad decisions made that I cannot believe that this is the same staff that got us to 10-2.

This will be a cleansing loss for us in that half of our fair weather fans will bail, but some new ones will be gained and they'll get to enjoy the climb.

It's not as much fun if you just show up for the last game or two of the year.

I don't know what any team at any level gains by punting at the opponent's 34. I don't understand the two throws to Johnson in the end zone, neither of which was a short slant route...what we seem best at.

Hey guys....we found someone who really likes losing 38-21 to our biggest rival. Maybe a little reading comprehension could do you well.....then you could write up your summary of THIS game.

But you might want to wipe the drool and cheeto dust off your keyboard first.

The one thing I worried about was snow and rain. We got snow and rain. Footing for the big guys was not firm and difficult to dance around with the defensive rush of Wisconsin. So, we were not quite as deep as Ohio State. We had many injuries in the game, including Morgan. This was a nightmare scenario. We are a team built for speed, but ice kills speed. And, we cannot do anything about the way it turned out. I am thanking the team for a wonderful season. And, as for the coaches, I am doing the same. They gave me a wonderful season to remember and we still have a good bowl game to go to. Wonderful at 10-2. Better than I thought they would do. This really is a continuation of the improvement in the team from year zero. Wonderful progress.

Correct!
That run on third down to start the second half.
I thought we learned our lesson when we punted from their 35.... nope. Note I also thought we learned not to play it safe against Iowa and the second half of PSU - or against Michigan back in the day, or against Purdue and Brees, or against Texas Tech, or against NC State and Philip Rivers...

Knowing the actual final score helps when attempting to insult someone’s game analysis....

Remember when they said "were not going to show our whole playbook in the first games"

Why are they still hiding it? You can't beat sconnie with the same six plays on offense...

exactly. Time to expand the playbook

That screen to Autman-Bell looks like genius when it goes for a TD against Penn State but is barely noticed when it goes for three yards today. Same coaches, same players, better defense. UW is simply a better team than PSU. I don't care where the teams end up ranked; they just are.

Correct. The first step to growth is admitting you might have at least possibly made the wrong decisions. PJ defends his game decisions based on the information available at the time.
So, I’m not sure where you get the feeling things are going to change with the coaching because PJ said the problem was the players didn’t make enough plays. Not the coaches putting the players in the wrong scheme or making an ill advised decision.

Ciarrocca is a LIABILITY.

No one talks about this.

2 NFL WRs and 2 more solid B1G receivers + 1 NFL QB + 3 solid B1G starting RBs + above average offensive line.

Gophers offense succeeds despite Ciarrocca mismanagement because of a soft schedule.

P.J. literally said the loss was 100% on him. Did you watch the post game?

Overreact much?

Yesterday was total fluke Wisconsin QB had the game of his life. Wisconsin DBs got away with a lot on the Minnesota WRs should have some PI calls especially on the one in the end zone on 4th down.
