We've seen some bad games from the Gophers this year, but the 2nd half of this game in Michigan was excellent. Other than one little stretch, that was aided greatly by some poor officiating, the Gophers dominated the second half. To play that way on the road without Al Nolen was a very encouraging sign. Really liked some of what Chip brought to the table night both offensively and defensively in the zone. It was one of those games where you could find something that about every player did not do well, but the team as a whole pulled together and executed. It was especially impressive that the team played so well in the 2nd half on the road after a first half performance that was poor on both ends of the floor. Lots to feel good about IMHO, as long as Al will be ok.

We needed this road win so bad. They looked good, as good as you can look without your point guard and on the road in the Big Ten.

One good thing is if we have to be without Nolen for a game - our next one is Northwestern.

I think this win is just as big as the Purdue one.

That was a "should win" game if ever there was one.

Michigan is slightly better than horrible.

I agree - all road wins are big. If we play this well we beat NW at home without Al as well. Let's get him back by the Purdue game!

Anyone hear anything about Hollins? He didn't log any minutes tonight.

Anyone hear anything about Hollins? He didn't log any minutes tonight.

He had a few min in the first half (if you were wondering about injury or other issues). Didn't play at all in the second half, but Tubby has gone with the freshmen that he feels are playing better that night in the last few games

The Gophers got the wins they needed and expected this week. This is what they needed to hold on to their #15 ranking. Looking at the teams ahead of them in the rankings, I don't see them moving up in the next poll.

They will move up in the ESPN poll since Louisville lost and either MSU or Purdue will lose tonight. Also, Texas A&M may drop slightly with their loss to Texas.

A&M won tonight to Kansas St. The Gophers may move ahead of them the AP poll, but that still gives A&M only 2 losses and their loss to Texas is not looking too bad now. Bottom line, the Gophers were the highest ranked team in the AP poll with 4 losses. We should be happy with a #15 ranking.

Texas A&M beat Kansas State 64 -56, but Texas dominated them so I think they fall a little.

Hmmm...

I don't think there's any reason Michigan should have stayed within 20 points of the Gophers.

Wow...so you'd put our team above the likes of #1 Ohio State (barely beat Michigan in Ann Arbor by 4 last week) and #2 Kansas (whom Michigan took to OT in Ann Arbor), WITHOUT Joseph, Nolen, and Walker?

I didn't realize we're head and shoulders the best team in America?

Well, I guess everyone has their own expectations of this team...

You can't take that clown seriously. Not worth a reply.

I didn't think it was a particularly good game by the Minnesota squad, but I think the fact that the team didn't look exceptionally sharp yet still won was an encouraging sign. The team looked flat, execution wasn't that sharp, and it was one of those games where the hands looked a bit stone like. Nonetheless, they won on the road. Granted, Michigan isn't any good, but they do have some fight in them. It may have been a 20 point game had it not been for a couple of stretches where everything Mich. through up from the arc found the bottom of the net.

the program has come a long way if a road win at michigan is a should win. good work tubby for getting the program to this point.

1-6 / 11-9.

Should win.

Low expectations for some. Easy on coach.

Seriously BarnBurner, who pooped in your cornflakes? Give up the buzzkill schtick already. Nobody is coming on here and saying

"OH MY GOD I CANT BELIEVE WE WON THAT GAME AGAINST AN AWESOME MICHIGAN TEAM ITS THE BEST I HAVE EVER SEEN US PLAY!!!!!!!!!1111"

I think most people are saying that any B10 road win is tough, Michigan has taken some GOOD teams to the wire lately, and that yesterday's game was one that a ranked team should win. We took care of business, and people are happy about that, and happy that we looked good even without a senior leader point guard. Freshmen and bigs played well, Hoff had a huge role icing the game. Are we partying in the streets because we won at Michigan? No, but getting this expected road win and having certain players show lots of promise is making fans happy.

We lost by 28 at Michigan last year. I'd say this is an improvement.

Which accounts for some of Tubby's intensity last night, too. Payback is a big motivator, and they were humiliated last year in Ann Arbor. Lots of pride by the guys who layed the egg last year.

Why cant anyone question tubby or the results of the team without the threat of being banned?

Genius. Thy name is Genius.

Go back and read my posts. With an objective stance.

Just did. Stand by my points. Was a good road win. Even if you think its a "should win" (which I agree with) that is in itself the sign of an improved program, as it wouldnt have been considered a "should win" under Monson IMO

Excellent.

We agree.

Dear Homers,

Athletically, the Gophers were 20 points superior to what Michigan ran onto the floor the other night. If we could've guarded the 3, we might have shut them out.
